She said she divorced him because of his cocaine use and his refusal to stop smoking even after losing much of his tongue to cancer.

Ironically she still ended up sitting by his bedside watching his poor choices consume him. And she went from the addict frying pan into the narcissist fire in terms of marriages.

Valerie looks like any woman who endured two very difficult marriages would look, and of course she’s in recovery - it takes a long time, the rest of your life to recover from narcissistic abuse and the first step is naming it and allowing yourself to be angry so you can put away the shame and move on.

Eddie died in October 2020. SHE filed for separation in November 2021 and then she filed for divorce in May 2022. Her comments about someone calling her fat and lazy are pretty damning.

For weeks and months, she very publicly and loudly sobbed and grieved when Eddie died, which took me back a bit when she was married to another guy. I wasn’t surprised by the subsequent divorce.

A lot of Gen X are obsessed with narcissism and posting about narcissist exes. I rarely see other generational groups focused on this.

They had a prenup, but he fought it/challenged it.

I wondered about that at the time also: how was her husband feeling about her very public comments about how much she loved Eddie. I mean, I'm sure she did love him and wanted to be by his side at the end, but maybe consider how that makes the current husband feel by putting it out there so publicly. Not to defend him if he is the complete jerk she makes him out to be now, but just seeing his side of the situation.
