+1. Fairfax’ll close, then APS will close. I can only think of 1 time in the past 6 years when APS didn’t follow FCPS. |
Ugh. I think they should open on time, but I know you all are right about the delay/closure possibilities. |
|
It's not a given that FCPS will close. Our new superintendent is from Washington state where they have real snow lol. I'm hoping whatever it is, both counties make the same call, and sooner than 5am please. (My kids go to school in APS, I work in FCPS) |
Yeah sorry about that. It is because of teachers like me and lack of subs. I can’t afford Arlington so I take off when my FCPS kids have snow days. They can’t legally stay home alone. |
If you look at the map of which Arlington Co roads have been plowed and which haven’t, A LOT of the county hasn’t been plowed yet. |
Looks mostly plowed to me https://arlgis.arlingtonva.us/Apps/Snow/SnowActivityMap/#13/38.8937/-77.1378 |
Yep, let's close all the schools because you can't drive out of your cul-de-sac and chose to send your kid to an option school instead of your local school, utilizing the bus! That aligns pretty well with what an option school parent would say. |
That shows my street as being plowed. It is still fully covered in snow and slush and will become a sheet of ice overnight with no chance of melting tomorrow. I’m going with closed for tomorrow. |
Roads are starting to dry in my neighborhood |
Chares Co. MD going with a 2 hour delay. That doesn't bode well for those hoping closer in systems will close. |
I really can't imagine they close. Roads are clear. Sidewalks are clear. Probably a delay, but even that doesn't seem a lock. |
FCPS is 2 hour delay - just posted |
Sidewalks are sheets of ice |
There is no legal home alone age in Virginia. If they are kindergarten, sure dicey. But age 8 is 100% home alone. |
