Routine if you run outside in the morning?

I need to work on doing mobility/warmup before I run. I often just stare at my phone.

I have run better after my morning coffee. Two cups of coffee, drive kid to school, go for a run, then fix a light breakfast and settle down to start work.

Well, I'm 50. I get up and make kid's lunch, eat something light and drink coffee. Go to the bathroom in the middle of all this. Corral kid through the breakfast and prep hoops and bring them to school. Get back, take the mutt, go for a run. I used to roll out and go, but now I've got other responsibilities to manage.

43 M. I have found as I mature as a runner I can do easy miles first thing in the morning that are unstructured without eating. Even then, I usually have a banana or something. Otherwise, I get up super early, eat a normal breakfast, wait 2-2.5 hours, then run for 1-1.5 hours and get some sweet sweet coffee and some Greek yogurt and fruit.

You clearly don’t hang out with runners much. You have to plan!

In that time, I drink coffee, check emails/texts I missed overnight, feed the cat and clean the litter box, lay out my things for the day, make the bed, etc.

I do not eat anything before running, because I want an empty stomach. I have something light (an apple OR a hard boiled egg) after my run. I'm genuinely not that hungry in the morning.

To add: I don't stretch (not proud of this). I do walk 5-10 minutes before and after my run.

OP here. I used to not stretch much before/after either which eventually became a problem.

Laying around doing nothing? It sure is. We were meant to move.

Oh, you again? Hi.

You can skip the running threads, you know.

Don’t you have an Ozempic prescription to fill?

This is generally also my schedule but I add about 4 ozs of a smoothie and just one cup of coffee.

49. Wake up, walk the dogs, do some mobility work (mainly on calves and quads). Head out door. The walk with the dogs, usually a half mile, is a good way to get moving.
