Oh yeah if you really don’t want to do this at your current weight look at Mountain Trek! It’s hiking, not kayaking but it’s in BC and gorgeous and nurturing and amazing. And you’ll lose weight while you’re there.

I’m poor, so I just got five pound dumbbells for free online and do an arms workout three times a week. It’s been almost two months now. My arms are still fat (as is my whole body) but a different shape of fat. I’m motivated by seeing how the shape of my arms change.

I have been these weights and you need to book this trip now. You can do it at 240 and it will be great. I’m 5’10” so I know if you’re a lot shorter it may feel different.

Also, ask your doctor about semaglutide. It doesn’t work for everyone.

I'm 5'10" as well! I'm also on Saxenda. So far so good! I may discuss with my husband about booking it for next summer... Or I'll at least keep an eye out on how many spots are left lol. I absolutely LOVE Orca's and have been on half a dozen whale watching tours through out the West coast with zero success lol.

I treat myself for sustaining healthy habits. Work out x times this week= manicure. Work out / eat right for a whole month = massage.

185 -- start
180 -- new Jo Malone perfume
175 -- hike in SNP with dogs and DH
170 -- reflexology foot massage
165 -- new Onitsuka Tigers
160 -- weekend at Williamsburg Inn
155 -- shopping trip to Georgetown
150 -- GOAL Cartier watch

I typed it in a pretty font, put it up on the wall of my office, and at each little goal as it was reached I put a sticker next to it. It was very motivating to see the stickers add up.

I love this!

It is super effective. Especially looking at it and seeing all of the stickers line up as you redeem things.

Okay you can definitely do a kayak trip at 240 then. Why wait?

This is such a great idea!!! I have been struggling to lose 8 pounds and this makes it feel like something I can envision!

Wow it’s funny how different people are. I hate everything about the idea of an adult using a sticker system!

I made a goal for myself. For each pound lost I set aside $10 for workout clothes.

“Set aside” = I wrote it on a piece of paper and tracked it with the weight.

Pound lost = a new low on the scale. 150 to 149 easy, to 148, easy, to 147, to 146, down to 144 much harder.

__
I did this because I tend to want new workout clothes when I start a new weight loss plan. “New clothes! That’s the trick..” But it feels like I should put in some effort first.

If you’ve been on this trip, how was it? My girlfriends and I are interested— it looks amazing! 2 of us love the outdoors and exercise and the other 2 don’t like too much exertion. How world you describe it?

We're going to Hawaii for spring break and my DH may kill me if I throw that at him lol. No I'll bring it up with him and see what he says. Life can be short!

Why?

I used to do the same as pp with the 5lb reward items. It worked well. Now I'm older and there's nothing that feels really motivational to wait for. I tried other things like trips to certain stores but too depressing because it feels impossible to lose anything, and then I return to comforting myself with food.

This is why I reward myself for consistency in healthy habits, not a number on the scale. The good habits are worth celebrating and what really matters.

What works for me with weight loss is to kickstart it with a long period of no work, light eating, and regular exercise.

After each of my pregnancies I went to my home country (a developing nation) for a month to stay with my parents. Relaxed, slept, ate reasonable portions of the meals cooked for me with no snacks in between, took long walks. I came back 10 lbs lighter each time and felt motivated to lose the rest of the pregnancy weight.
