You think it's just fast food that's gotten ridiculous? Been to a grocery store recently?

Yes. It doesn’t cost me $13 to buy ingredients for a sandwich.

What? Its $6 for deli meat these days. $3 for bread. Lettuce is another $2. Tomatoes are $1. Literally. Mayo and condiments are extra.

That makes multiple sandwiches, not one. Please divide into the cost per sandwich.

So you think there is some grand conspiracy? If it was gouging, a secondarily player would undercut the competition and make a ton of money. The fact that no one has means that the inputs all cost more which is reflected in prices. Joe did that

There was literally a grand conspiracy to fix the price of eggs.

And another grand conspiracy to fix the price of chicken.

You eat all of that for one single meal? An entire loaf of bread?

One meal for a family. A single person she can afford to pay that.

Why are you being so obtuse? The POINT is that all of these things cost half as much within living memory (i.e. four years ago). When prices go up that much that quickly the public notices, especially when their wages haven't risen.

Where on earth do you shop? Our costs are not up that high.

Food inflation is not just a US phenomenon. EU countries are experiencing high food inflation, higher than ours. Not sure why. I have relatives in northern and southern Europe and follow their local press and rising food prices are a constant topic.

“In October 2023, the inflation rate for food in the European Union reached 7.59 percent compared to the same month the year prior. The rate of inflation had been continuously growing since April of 2021, when it was measured at 0.1 percent.”

The lunacy is thinking Trump or any Republicans will do anything to lower food costs.

That is capitalism baby. Get a better job or you don't deserve to eat.

That is LITERALLY the motto of the right.

You’re the one being deliberately obtuse. Prices are up but it’s still a lot cheaper to eat your meals at home, duh.

Exaggerating much?

If any of you ever talked to normal people (those who don't consider an HHI of 500k middle class) you'd understand how damaging this issue is for the Ds. The actual middle class is very stressed by food prices and they are able to notice when this stress started.

We make $95,000 a year. We had steak last night. And prime rib the night before.

We know who will damage us, and it isn't the Democrats.
