We always do bagels with lox, cream cheese, and all the toppings (red onion, capers, sliced tomatoes, sliced hard boiled eggs). My family doesn’t like anything too sugary in the morning.
Waffles topped with strawberries and whipped cream. Eggs made to order and ham or bacon on the side.

Keep it simple and delicious!
Monkey bread is our family tradition. Cut the Pillsbury Grands the night before, put in Ziplock bag with cinnamon and sugar (shake to coat - then put bag in refrigerator overnight). Put butter and brown sugar in a small pot on the stove levae put overnight. In the morning, turn oven to 350, turn on the stove, and stir the butter and brown sugar. While butter is first melting, dump the coated Pillsbury Grand pieces into the pan and stir butter/brown sugar more. Once butter/brown sugar mixture is combined, melted and caramelized, pour butter/brown sugar over the Pillsbury Grands pieces and put in the oven. When done, eat! If you feel the need for protein, scramble some eggs, but a tall glass of cold milk and piping hot monkey bread does it for my family |
I like to do a French toast casserole or baked oatmeal, make ahead and pop in oven before opening presents. Often I cook some sausage or bacon in the oven to go with it. I like to have something easy that seems like a treat but also has some protein to power through the day.
We usually make the hash brown/ egg overnight casserole. For the health conscious, I make yogurt parfaits with fresh fruit.
Quiche. Make in advance and reheat.
Frittata. Easy. You can make it ahead. And it reminds me of Spain.
You mean these specific cinnamon rolls are a once a year thing or cinnamon rolls in general? |
We make the Trader Joes chocolate and almond croissants and panettone toast right when everyone gets up and is opening presents. The past couple years I made quiche for lunch after all the presents are opened.
Scones from scratch and bacon.
This year I’m going to make beef Wellington for Christmas dinner, so I’m not putting much effort into breakfast. It’ll be one of two make ahead casseroles. One has hash browns, eggs, sausage and shredded cheddar. The other has torn up bread, eggs, sausage and Brie. Not sure which one I’ll make. I’ll let my teenagers make monkey bread if they want it. I’ll also have a fruit bowl.
Breakfast casserole and cinnamon rolls
Baked egg, sausage, cheese, bread cube casserole prepared the night before. Sally’s addiction baked oatmeal in the morning-fast preparation.
We always have an egg casserole made the day before and baked while we open gifts, fruit salad, and homemade English muffins.
I make hashbrown casserole overnight in the crockpot. Serve with breakfast sausage or veggie sausage. Fancy fruit salad made the day before. Nice pastry made by a local bakery.
