How much of it is made in China in deplorable working conditions? Can you guarantee that no one was expoliteed for the clothes you wear?

People have voices. These animals do not. The animals are kept in cages where they can barely walk for their entire lives, only to face murder in brutal ways. Can you stop with the whataboutism? Fur is awful.

You think people who are starving have much choice about what they do for a meal? Also, how do you think the chicken in the grocery store is raised?

Do you speak for the children who suffer asthma from particulate emissions related to petroleum refining and chemical manufacture for "cruelty-free" coats? Do you speak for the women who bath in, drink, and cook with water polluted from fiber and garment dying processes? Do you speak for the multitudes of animals that are also impacted by the environmental impacts of these industries? Do you speak for the people who will be displaced by the rising sea levels due to the carbon emissions from these industries? Do not think that your Patagonia coat is less cruel than grandma's fur. It's not.

I'd gladly walk around covered in paint if it could educate just a single person on the impact of their choices. Just because you don't see the cruelty of the garment industry directly in front of you, doesn't make then any less real.

OP, since you are open to 2nd hand, have you tried asking your friends if they happen to have any furs they would want to get rid of? Many folks have furs from a grandmother or aunt that they feel bad about getting rid of, but are nervous about wearing. You may be able to score something great just from your acquaintances by just asking.

This! I have several I’m not gonna wear.

Why would you not? Because you're afraid of some moron judging you? The animal is already dead. You can't kill it again.

I have a short and full length mink plus a hat given to me my by my MIL many years ago. She worked at the original Neiman Marcus "Trophy Room" in Dallas and that is where these are from (from the 1950s). I have no desire to wear them but would sell them if I knew where to go....they are brand new - I mean how often could she wear a mink in Dallas?

DH inherited a karakul hat from his father and set fire to it.

Fair enough. I don't own any because I'm too poor and really have no occasion to wear them, but I'm also not judging anyone else who does.
