Braised Short Ribs?

Just one recipe. https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/red-wine-braised-short-ribs

It would go with the other sides traditional for Thanksgiving, in case you are doing some of those...or with homemade pasta.

This.

I wouldn’t make a duck cause with teens one wouldn’t be enough.

You could try a goose, it’s bigger than a duck and juicer than a Turkey. Roast it same way you’d make a duck. I prefer roasting in Dutch oven with some apples.

Consider catering. Mediterranean Bakery (and other markets / restaurants) could make nice meals. Here are some options that may work:

From Mediterranean bakery: Leg of Lamb & Rice Platter (small, serves 15) Pulled lamb, served on a bed of ground beef & rice, with tomato and roasted almond garnish $85.00 (you’d have enough to freeze or left overs), I think shemalis in dc also had similar but their site seems down now.

You could get kabob’s, here is an example from bawadi:

You could order also a Chinese or Korean feast.

This one is brilliant.

I have also done beef wellington. A lot of work but delicious.

A goose is also perfect for three people. Much tastier than turkey. Or a duck.

I have a relative who does skirt steak every year.

Same, our family including the extended relatives do not like turkey. Funny that we tolerated turkey for so long because we each thought the other person wanted it. Nope, nobody likes it. Thank goodness the turkey tradition is dead. Couple of years ago, we got the idea from DCUM to make cheese fondu. It was a hit. This year, we might do casserole or quiche.

I know you said you don't like turkey, but for a small group get together, I really like a turkey roulade, which is a wrapped boneless turkey breast with herbs inside and bacon outside. My family likes it because you can still have turkey and the more popular side dishes, but not have to eat a lot of plain turkey meat.

Chicken Marbella always a winner.

Agree about Chicken Marbella. Oldie but goodie. I made this years ago for a family get together. Everyone loved it. The original recipe calls for 1 cup of brown sugar, though. Consider cutting it back for those who are avoiding sugar.

We also dislike turkey so we do a breast. I typically host for about 6.

When it's just the nuclear 3 of us we do only sides -- mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, stuffing, green bean casserole with double fried onions, mushroom gravy, peas, two kind of cranberry sauce, rolls, relish tray, I am probably forgetting something -- and we love it.

Adding to 15:52 post above.
Korean Short Rib Tacos: grilled boneless short ribs + kimchi (or gochujang) wrapped in tortilla or leafy lettuce.
