Futsal done right is an excellent thing for skills development. |
Not our experience playing with a couple of club teams around here. Going to just leave it here that it may depend on the coaches. My kids had great experience playing with alexandria and st. James in previous years. Everyone got somewhat of the similar playing times more or less depend on the match. Def helpful for quicker decision and working on tight space. |
We played with a smaller club last year, unfortunately they had no Futsal certified coaches. I.e. no coaches that have actually played futsal or received any training on how to coach the different techniques. We even paid to go to their Futsal Winter clinic, it was a farce. Whoever you go with, consider asking about any futsal training or futsal certification they may have. We were defiantly embarrassed playing against qualified futsal teams last year. |
Yes. Always. Because it is a try out. |
Has the invite been sent out yet? |
What age group? but yes, for 2009s |
Arguably the most ignorant comment ever posted on DCUM. Pele, Neymar, Messi, Ronaldino, and Iniesta are all on record stating how vital futsal was in their development. Futsal thrives in Brazil & Argentina. And 1 of those 2 countries has been in the WC finals 11 of the last 17 times. It’s almost like futsal works. 🙄 |
Clubs/Academies in Brazil only play Futsal until U12 before going outside |
As another poster said they aren't looking to build a program they are looking for money. In most older age groups (u13 and above )they held a separate tryouts for the ECNL kids and gave the ecnl kids offers without having them compete against non ecnl players. I guarantee they missed out on someone who is a better futsal player than an ecnl kid but not a better soccer player. IF they were really interested in building a program they would have had everyone compete together and pick the best 10 futsal players. |
Definitely disappointing that the ECNL kids tried out separately instead of giving all the players an equal chance to compete. |
Have any non ECNL 2009s or 2010s gotten offers or rejections yet? |
they don't owe you anything. If your DC was better than the players that they currently have, they would take you. If you're about the same, why would they add you to their top team? Alexandria did the same thing. Separating their club players from outside players. |
I think this happens often, bigger clubs hold tryouts or ID sessions, but what I saw was the tops teams were already set. Within 15 minutes of open try-outs, the teams were divided up into 3 tier groups with the top players (who already were wearing futsal team uniforms) going off to practice away from everyone else. Coaches did not seem to have time or interest in bringing new or outside talent to their top teams. --But then, I suppose that is like life. Changing jobs? Often you have to start at he bottom and work you way up. |
They need to keep their customer base. People get angry if outside players come in and take spots while they have been "loyal" to the Club and their kid has always been on the top team. Certain clubs the rosters barely change for that reason as well. |
Did all the ECNL players get the offer? |
