B student

Oh my goodness, it's not just A students who go to four-year colleges. There are tons of schools for her.

I liked collegedata.com for quick reference for things like average GPAs, SATs, etc. when we were looking at schools for our kids. Visit some schools to get an idea of what she might like, e.g., urban vs. suburban, size, etc. and go from there.

We are going to be in the same boat with a B student, but only considering In-State Virginia. I'm guessing VCU, ODU, Christopher Newport, GMU, Longwood are decent options. Maybe UMW?

Maybe Radford?

I will also mention that if you consider Virginia privates, you have the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant. And it seems that at some of these private schools, every student gets merit aid that is determined by GPA. A B student could be in line for 8 or 10k of merit.

Below T100. Or community college.

Honestly, with the cost college these days, even to T100 below, I'm thinking my solid B student DC go the community college route.

It depends on why she is a B student. My B student got in everywhere he applied. He went to a challenging Catholic school and worked hard for his 3.1 GPA (I think he graduated with a 3.3). He had great writing skills and good study skills. He had all of the skills he needed to succeed in college. He was just a weak math student so any math class in addition to chemistry and physics brought his GPA down. He is a pre-law major so he took his required math classes and was done with it.

Out of touch. Maybe five years ago. Not now by any stretch.

My neighbor’s 3.0 student got in at all of these except for GMU.

why not? College costs are stupidly high. I am not paying up the nose for a T100 and below college. I'm not even sure I want to for a t75 below.

Fine if you truly can't afford it. If you can, then that's a ridiculous attitude.

She will be fine! This place had me thinking my B average DS was destined for a future at Juanita College.

Did he get accepted to any VA universities other than Old Dominion? No. Did he get accepted to every out-of-state school to which he applied? Yep, sure did! He's in his 2nd year at a FSU and loving it.
