Shady grove not calling back

In my experience, communication has been horrible every step of the way: it's getting the front desk to book appointments ( never return calls even when you leave messages), getting the financial coordinator( she is the worst offender, never returns calls), getting info about my cycle while the cycle is going on ( this one time they failed to call and tell me to increase dose of meds and were surprised I was still on lower dose at the next visit).

I'm having a hard time getting through to my financial counselor too. I saw a lot of negative reviews about the billing/finance team in general, though I didn't have an issue last time I was a patient (2 years ago). Appointments/tests are no problem though; my doctor's nurse team is super on top of that.

Call your Dr. or their assigned nurse.

SGF sucked for us all the way through,

they wanted to continue trying what would not work

We are patients at SGF Rockville

They never let you schedule a follow up appointment, you have to wait until they call you

they never call you

they say you will get called in "1 or 2 days" or whatever but that means "1 or 2 weeks"

nothing the dr. says matches up with the "coordinator"

our coordinator told us the dr. doesn't understand the procedures which is why he told us the wrong thing even though he's been working there for decades

they never tell us any schedule

they always tell us new requirements that we didn't know about

basically we have zero control, zero knowledge, and zero trust

we feel like we are just sitting here hoping for lightning to strike and something good to happen

its been 15 months since we first asked for ivf treatment and we still haven't been able to start anything despite having obvious infertility

also, the place is a monopoly that voraciously buys up all independent fertility clinics and converts them into their system

I think it depends on your dr/dr’s nurses. Mine were very responsive and always contacted me timely with results/next steps.

Yeah, I have had the same experience. Generally easy to get in touch with my team and they have been proactive about scheduling.

Me too. I have Dr. Osborn at Sibley FWIW. Her nurses are super on top of it.

Agreed. I went through 3 FET cycles with them last year and they were very responsive, even when I asked for scheduling changes to testing.

+1 Dr. Osborn and her nurses are great. Switch to Sibley. It doesn't feel like Starbucks or McDonald's in the Sibley office.

How long did it take from when you made you first appointment to when you were able to start treatment?

I recently restarted as a patient and after calling the front desk at the K street office, I had an appointment with my Dr 3 weeks later. In the meantime, I was able to do all of the baseline testing that was needed before starting another cycle (the water up the uterus thing, blood tests, and follicle count). When I did speak to my Dr, she said I could start an FET with my next cycle, which was about a week later. This was with Dr Devine. I was also proactive about sending updated insurance information so that everything could be preapproved, but I have always had a positive experience with the financial counsellors I have worked with. If you are a new patient, it will always take longer.

PP from above. Dr. Devine was my Dr, too. Her team was very responsive.

Dr. Devine is my doctor too (currently going through treatment) and I’ve only had good experiences with her and her team.
