As I said, people may not have liked them, but yes they did know what they were doing and the departments worked together. Just because you don't like what they proposed or did does not mean they weren't competent. Duran's staff has expanded too broadly, is full of incompetence and/or laziness, and the departments not only do not work together - some refuse to work with the other departments or coordinate anything.

Why does stuff like this bother you? Other than the messages or IG posts or VOLUNTARY events to honor the various groups . . . . I am literally required to do nothing to recognize, support, etc. these things. Nor are your. They're Latino STUDENT LEADERS being honored during Hispanic/Latino heritage month. They're not just being honored for being Latino. I'm sure if they have Irish student leaders, they'd also get a shout out during their month.

Find something legitimate to worry about. This is a bad faith argument at its core. This is like if during Black History Month, Duran was honoring Black Civil Rights Activists and all you heard was the black part. It's a descriptor, not a noun.

When your heritage gets an official recognition month/week/day by the federal government, maybe your son will be honored.

It’s very strange though to look up the demographics of a student and pick a student from that demographic to give them an award. We might as well become Iraq or Lebanon where every one is picked based on their religious or ethnic background

What groups are deserving of recognition beyond Hispanic? Are we doing this for every group? Which ones specifically?

Also, my dear friend growing up had a Hispanic last name, whose father came to the US as a lawyer, and who was a National Merit Scholar. S/he was racially white and only had white friends. Is s/he the Hispanic “community” you are seeking to recognize?
