Dr Duran’a Email - Anyone think this is weird?

I’m part of a minority myself who also has a “month” and consider myself a progressive But I think it’s a bit strange for Dr Duran to honor “Latino Student Leaders.” Something about honoring students on the basis of their race and ethnicity doesn’t sit well with me.

I mean generally during hispanic heritage month or black history month or women's history month or Asian American month we honor folks that fall into those categories. So no, I don't think it's weird.

This guy can’t take a sip of water without people complaining. He earns every penny in my opinion.

Patrick Murphy wanted me to ask if y'all missed him yet?

x1000

This is not one to get in an uproar about. Good for those students! I’m sure they are honored to be chosen and highlighted in this way.

what do you want them to do?

come ON.

Honoring based on race, gender, etc feels a bit like a consolation prize. This is different from honoring historical figures that were deliberately ignored. It’s implying APS continues to routinely disregard said group except for this particular month.

They are not being honored because they are Latino. They are Latino people being honored for their contributions. Sorry this is so difficult for you.

Him, no. His competent staff, yes.
People may not have liked Chadwick or Tara Nattrass; but they knew what they were doing and worked together like adults.
