Sure, go ahead. I'm not tipping sh!t if they're all going to get paid normal wages that meet minimum wage laws.

Are you saying you will tip less if you find out your wait staff is making minimum wage?

Tip less? I'd tip $0.

They're getting a wage. End of story. I'm not going to tip someone for doing their damn job that now gets a wage/salary. F that.

Are they getting a wage? Yes? Then $0.

Why tip a server, valet, hairdresser getting a wage and not the amazon delivery guy, the grocery store clerk, the trashmen, or your mechanic while you're at it?

Just be honest, US tipping culture is asinine and make zero damn sense..

Tips were only supposed to be for waiters making far below minimum wage, that's it.

As soon as they make a wage that upends tradition and meets minimum wage laws they can and should expect $0 in tips.

Who are you to speak on behalf of all tipped workers? Some tipped workers probably don't want it. Other tipped workers evidently do want it. Just like in DC.

New poster. I can't fathom any server in the restaurant industry favoring this bill. I spent 10 years as a waiter and bartender and always made 2 to 5 times minimum wage. And that was in small town NY 20 yrs ago.

Probably not. Jawando has some professional Community Organizers at his press conference. Not actual workers.

If it's implemented like DC you'll see 20% service charges on restaurant checks. I'm not tipping on top of a service charge.

And they’re sneaky about it too! You really have to scrutinize bills nowadays.

Even though I know DC requires the minimum wage, I still tip 20% when I go out to eat in DC, and everyone I know does the same. I think servers favor the bill for this reason. They know people aren't going to adjust their tipping behavior because servers now make the minimum wage -- the tipping culture for servers is just too ingrained. If I tip zero in DC (and other people do the same), servers will undoubtedly make less than before, but I think it's too hard to know what figure between 0% and 20% is now supposed to be the norm, so we just do 20% because it's what we've always done.

You do understand that you will be getting minimum wage and tips.

There it is, folks. Mask off. The Republican party platform is to reject the rule of law.

I’m a DC resident bedside my local spots I don’t tip 20%. I now know they are making a wage to do their job just like the host or chef who I don’t tip. If I tip for exceptional service it is much lower

If this is for all tipped workers, does that mean no more tips for bartenders?
