To require tipped workers to make minimum wage. Let’s discuss why Dems push this despite tipped workers not wanting it. Because they’ll be able to tax more as they likely don’t report cash tips

Who are you to speak on behalf of all tipped workers? Some tipped workers probably don't want it. Other tipped workers evidently do want it. Just like in DC. |
So is it your position that local governments should NOT try to collect taxes owed? |
| I'd argue if they aren't paid a tipped worker wage, then they shouldn't be tipped. |
| I think they should all get minimum wage. Restaurants charge enough for their food that there is no excuse not to pay staff minimum wage. |
Are you saying you will tip less if you find out your wait staff is making minimum wage? |
If you make a minimum wage and not a tipped wage, then yes, you shouldn't be tipped. |
Bartenders are do you tip them? Valets? Caddies? Nail salons? Hairdressers? |
You don’t tip hairdressers, nail salons, bartenders? |
Why shouldn't you be? |

Nobody tips in cash anymore. Also, the cash tip amount is calculated from cash sales whether the worker was tipped or not. If it's not, the place is not reporting sales and who-know what else left and right.
Actually there's something else that will be happening as they raise the minimum wage like they did in DC. It's happening in DC now and nobody is talking about it. I've been working in restaurants since late 1997 and it's never been so crazy as it is now. I think it will only get worse. Can't wait for some places to fold and eating out being more of a special occasion. |
| This has been a disaster since it was implemented in DC. We should learn that lesson and not bring this idea to Montgomery County. |
https://www.dcurbanmom.com/dev/posts/list/1156493.page I posted the text of the bill. |
| Isn’t this what they did in dc? And it changed absolutely nothing. You now just have to pay more and tip on top. These type of ideas make absolutely 0 sense and likely just end up with more money in the hands of the privileged few |
I tip in cash. When I tip in cash, I can be pretty sure the workers get it. When I add the tip on the credit card, I have no idea who gets it. |
