Sure. Let's change state laws on requiring that school be closed on Good Friday, Eastern Monday, and Christmas to New Years.

Now laws requiring we take Jewish holidays off

Thank you for your antisemitism. MoCo has a sizeable Jewish population and the move to have Yom Kippur off is well justified

I am not aware of any laws requiring that.

No many MD counties do not have them off.

Correct. This is the list of state-required holidays:

Because VA counts school time by hours not days so a few years back they added 12 minutes? a day to get longer vacations.

I love this idea. The day is already so so long what's another 12 minutes?

Me too! The good ol days! With the choices I voted for August- June 11 (the early June).

In my good ol days, school started in mid August and ended at the end of May. My good ol days were also the nadir of standardized test scores in the US, but I don't think the two are related.

Insufficient number of teachers to actually teach because they are worshiping. Far less an issue in DCPS where elected leaders believe Jews control the weather

They're intended for parent-teacher conferences.

You must have an elementary student. PTCs are not a thing when teachers have 120+ students, and those who really need it cannot accomplish anything in 5min other than look at the grade book together and set up a time to meet.

Let’s close school for everyone’s religious holidays: Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Chinese New year. And given the big Persian population in Moco, we should add Persian new year to the list!

Nevertheless, the whole system has early release days those days.

They try to do this when possible.

I believe the decision to observe religious holidays is informed by census data.

It's informed by teachers requesting time off and the lack of enough substitutes.

Does anyone think there is a chance we will start after Labor Day?

They are obviously considering it since it's one of the two options on the survey. But I doubt they will choose that.

I hope not. Way too late
