I do it every morning and at night. It drives me crazy.
When I’m not weighing myself it’s because I know I’m gaining and don’t want to see it. I’ll try once a week and see if that cures me of all my mental issues around weight SPOILER ALERT anyway I wouldn’t worry too much it can’t matter |
Once a week either Friday or Monday am |
When I was on my keto kick a few years back, I weighed myself daily (first thing in the AM, naked and after urination. I do agree with some of the posters about it driving you crazy, but it does hold you accountable as well each and every day. I, also, will say don't be fooled by lbs...it's actually how you "look" that is most important. |
I had to stop weighing myself due to the emotional impact and hold it has on me. I now just go by how my clothes fit. |
This how I look/feel/clothes fit business is how people end up way overweight. Pounds can add on and easily go unnoticed or be downplayed or denied- especially since many people live in athleisure and stretchy clothes most days. |
The issue with once a week weighing is that it can cover fluctuations. I did some intense hiking over the weekend and was incredibly sore. When muscles are recovering they tend to retain water. I also drank electrolytes which may have lead to additional water retention. With that I was a solid 3 lbs heavier and it took 4 days to go away. Now I didn't stress about this 3 lbs because I knew I had not eaten enough/the 10K calories it would take to gain3 lbs of fat in 2 days. |
I'm doing Noom and they have you weigh yourself every day. Initially that felt like a bad idea to me and it did cause me some anxiety. But after a few months I really started to understand how much my body fluctuates even in the midst of steady weight loss. I definitely see how much my weight is affected by where I am in my cycle and I feel less bothered by those rises and falls. |
This. Every morning. Been dieting since January - down 30 pounds. It doesn't matter what I eat/don't eat, or how much I exercise, the week before my period I gain 2 pounds. Always lose it, and more, the following week |
I was doing daily but now I do weekly. Weight loss shouldn’t be too fast, and I know I tend to lose it almost in five-pound increments. I’m currently losing postpartum weight and then some, and I’ve found that less is more, especially when the weight is trending downwards. That’s what matters! |
Agree that it’s how you look! Which is why I don’t understand why some people are so obsessed with a number |
Daily, after I pee. It helps me understand the fluctuations better and doesn’t stress me out. |
Exactly. This is literally how I gained 15 pounds during covid. I wore sweatpants and yoga pants for 2 years and didn’t weigh myself daily. I’m finally back in my real clothes and just lost the remainder of the 15. Weighing myself every morning ( and completely giving up alcohol) was the only way I got back to my pre-covid weight. |
I couldn’t disagree more. I’ve never owned a scale in my entire life. My weight fluctuates based on water weight, whether I have my period, how much I’ve eaten that day… it’s just not a useful number for me. I’m working on losing baby weight right now and all I need to know is whether I can comfortably zip my pre-baby jeans or not. |
