| No. No no no no no no. |
| What a horrifying and unChristian thing to say to someone! |
Oh.... no, OP.
You may have depression. Who wouldn't after what you have been through. Mental illness isn't demonic possession. The demons (so to speak) are the people who hurt you. I hope you are able to find some help, and peace. |
You need help. FAST. |

How was it that your therapist was allowed to break confidentiality and disclose your personal details to other people such as your pastor?
Did your therapist not notify the police that your parents were abusing you? Therapists have a duty to report abuse of a minor to law enforcement. I am not saying you weren’t abused, but if you were, your therapist was had a legal obligation to report the abuse and assist law enforcement. |
| If a human being slit their wrists a single time, without seeking medical care, they will bleed out. |
Some of the evangelical churches in my area have "therapists" or "counselors" who aren't licensed therapists. They're trained to give "Biblical counseling" by their church. They frequently do more harm than good. |
They aren’t real therapists or counselors then. Op was abused by their parents, who were supposed to protect them. Parents have the duty and moral obligation to love and protect their children. I don’t know if op is telling the truth, but no human can repeatedly “slit their wrists” without bleeding out and dying. one time slitting wrists is a death sentence without quick and competent emergency medical care. I have attended multiple evangelical churches and never was any counseling or therapy offered besides pastoral counseling from the pastor. There were no unlicensed therapists or counselors offering services to church members. I doubt that is a real thing. Can you name the churches this type of service is offered at? Link to their website and show the staff that does so? |
| It is a real possibility the OP needs an exorcism. This is still a rite of the Catholic church. And maybe it would be like a palliative and help them exorcize their demons. Ask your pastor. |
I think you have a choice to make, OP. You can be crazy, like this person. Or you can get yourself a good therapist, get away from religion and be sane. I advise choosing the latter. |
+1 That is not a healthy Christian church, or family. Unfortunately, religion doesn't protect you from abuse, as we all know. But, there are many loving Christian families and churches. I have heard stories of people leaving their church because of abuse, and then eventually finding a loving church. It's transformative. |
| I don't know about demon possession, per se, but I do think people can be very much influenced by evil, call it demons if you like. |
What churches near you have this? Name and shame. |
Like the Duggars. |
