These are allegation. Any solutions?

You know things are bad when you're not just compared to Baltimore, but when your crime stats make Baltimore look not so bad.

Baltimore has made a lot of progress. Yes, parts of the city look like warzones. But their numbers are coming down.

I firmly believe that our political discourse will always be in the gutter until we improve math literacy in this country.

If the OP's nubmers are right - that's a rate of about 281 murders per million in Baltimore.

About 225 per million in DC.

Rates seems pretty close to me, and far above other cities.

For context, Chicago in 2022 (for the FULL YEAR) had a murder rate of about 260 per million. We're almost there, and still have 5 months to go! New York in 2022 for the full year was about 55 per million.

You people voted like idiots and gave carte blanche to the party in control. Reap what you've sown.

Red districts are also experiencing crime increases so don’t be foolish.

Oh please. Crime is down in many blue districts too, but up in DC. You can't stand the fact that this is an abject failure by democratic leadership in DC. Your pathetic attempt at deflection is try to bring in some kind of no relevant comparison to red districts. Just compare it to a neighbor like baltimore or PG county, which are much closer and way better companions. They're both doing way better than DC.

Houston Texas murder rate is down 28%. They have 168 killed through June.

Reason?
Solution?

Reason: insane progressive ideas for criminal justice reform. Crap like trying to change the criminal code so that almost all crimes require a trial (which will obwrwhelm the system and let criminals walk free). Other loony bin ideas and speech from current progressive leaders in the area like people don't have fully formed brains until their mid20s, therefore we shouldn't be as harsh on them when they commit serious crimes.

Except it is about the delta. While Baltimore's per capita numbers are higher, Baltimore is trending in the right direction while DC is not. That's pathetic considering how much wealthier the DC region is in general.

Something is going very wrong when a rich city like DC is being mentioned in the same breath as Baltimore.

Hey Mr. Disingenuous,
All those states with Republicans governors have Democrat cities with high crime rates driving those stats.

The more worrisome thing here is that the murder rate is falling dramatically in most other big cities and DC is this strange outlier with a massive spike in homicides
Anonymous
Maybe all the murderers ran out of people to murder in Baltimore and came here.

Did they ever catch the guys who murdered the Afghan translator refugee who was driving for Lyft?
