| If we are including the DC metro area, I like Bagel Uprising in Alexandria. Chewish is also popular but I like BU better. |
Bagels should be chewier than rolls with a tough crust. Not inedibly tough, but it should require a bit of work. I myself enjoyed Bethesda Bagels when I lived in DC, but that was primarily because I worked up the street and it was better than the breakfast sandwiches at other places, which all used worse bagels. I liked their garlic bagels and their salt bagels, with veggie cream cheese. |
What are better options in the DC area? |
| Bagels etc in Dupont! |
I like Bullfrog because they have a good chewy texture and a slightly tangy flavor. And are very fresh. Bullfrog also has excellent house-made whitefish salad and smoked meats that I think they make all in house. |
Is this the one on P st? A sleeper, yes! |
| Goldberg’s. I like Bullfrog too. Also not a fan of Call Your Mother bagels as bagels per se although I do enjoy their sandwiches loaded with lots of ingredients. |
Bullfrog. I’m in Bethesda but am happy to drive to Tenleytown for them. Also now on DoorDash. |
| Brooklyn bagel in courthouse (Arlington). Those are definitely the best in the area imho. |
| Bull Frog is a chain or single store? |
| Bagel uprising in Alexandria is good |
+1 |
A couple stores with the same owner. |

baked by yael and bagels etc are the only correct answers in my opinion.
Bethesda Bagels and CYM don't get the texture right. People around here aren't used to good bagels. I haven't tried buffalo and bergen but imagine they have potential. |
| Call Your Mother bagels are too sweet (they add honey) and chewy/doughy. Pearls are solid. |
