St James’ Carr named Towson Head Coach

Anonymous
She’s gone, less than year after assuming the role. She sent farewell message to STJ Stars families this morning, just days after families chose/committed to the program.

Great personal and professional opportunity for her though. Wish her the best!

Wonder if they will hire new director or if SW just (re)assumes that role?

If this makes you sleep better then sure. But it’s not likely to have much, if any, impact. Academically Towson is not going to attract top players.

No one from VA is going to pay out of state tuition to go to an average university. Would stay in VA and play for a George Mason or VCU.

Yeah, that’s a hard pass. I would definitely arms my child to Towson to play there over Mason or VCU. You are delusional to think they are on the same level

Take the lacrosse out of a club and you have to treat the club like a business. My opinion: you need to hire 2 main people. One to run it from a business perspective and the other to run it from a lacrosse perspective. There needs to be a clear, concise consistent message from the club and can absolutely be accomplished with the right mindset.
This is just my opinion but why most clubs fail.
Good luck to Stars as I hope the succeed.

For lacrosse, Towson is better, but academically, George Mason is much better, and VCU is about the same as Towson. The PP was speaking from the perspective of a VA resident. A degree lasts much longer than lacrosse glory, and college costs matter to most people.

Well, this is certainly interesting. She was the JHU assistant coach so it's not as though she can't hold two jobs at once.

Lot's of college lax coaches have 2nd and 3rd jobs, but it's not clear how this is going to play out.

Stay tuned, this could get interesting.

I am sure she will still be able to be involved, but the job of director will be too much along with head coaching a program.

The email sent to families was essentially a goodbye and good luck. Doesn’t sound like there will be any further involvement

PP hit the nail on the head about clubs run as a business. No offense to Cookie because she is an awesome coach and player but doesn’t have the business mindset to run a club.

That’s your opinion but she was a 1000% improvement over the prior regime. If you think things will be better with SW back in charge, good luck.

They'll probably find someone on the way up in their lax career as a replacement. There are a few options in the MidAtlantic area. KC may have even have had recommendations.

Announcement timing post MCE purchase and tryouts was perfect. I wonder if any parents made decisions based on KC leading the girls teams and are now annoyed.

Please give a concrete example of this.

Concrete example that KC was an improvement? This can't be a real statement if you honestly believe things were better before.

I saw no difference. I’m only one person so please share your example. Hopefully it’s not that Kristen was famous so it made Stars cooler which I acknowledge was a huge plus.
