How difficult is it to maintain (1-10)

How does this happen?

Your diet and exercise remained exactly the same leading you to lose and subsequently gain???

6-7, but it’s also a huge priority to me and - barring pregnancy - I do not allow myself to yoyo

Absolutely a 10. Have been fighting my whole life (was a fat kid). Every time I find something that seems to work, my body/my subconscious adjusts and it stops working.

I can maintain 20 pounds overweight at a 3. I was once 70 pounds overweight (morbidly obese) so this is a huge improvement.

I think to get to a 'healthy weight' I would be at a 12. I have in fact kind of decided to accept myself here because I am terrified of the possibility that I could go through agony to get down another 20 pounds but then be at a much higher risk to regain the full 90.

This is why obesity is defined as a chronic relapsing progressive disease process. It's incredibly difficult to maintain weight loss and most people do not succeed.

Op here. I feel like I'm the same way. I am at about a 3 when I'm 20lbs overweight (but still healthy--can run, my blood tests are all normal). If I want to get to my normal weight (not even a low BMI) I would have to go obsessive and I'm just miserable and thinking about it constantly and avoiding social situations so I can count calories or points easier. 10 when I'm dieting, 3 when I'm just eating healthy for the most part but chunky.

3. I've only been this weight for a few months. My goal weight was higher than this. I'm really good at not overeating. I joined Noom a few years ago and it changed my life.

No need to be rude, the real diet is maintaining weight loss.

between 1 & 2
I don't feel like I "deny" myself anything and I don't view food as a reward or treat. I enjoy what I eat but I keep an eye on it.

What is rude about my question? I'm honestly confused. How do you implement dietary and exercise changes, lose 20lbs, continue those same dietary changes, and then gain 20+ lbs back? I don't understand.

I'm in the midst of trying to lose weight now, so definitely a 10.
I was able to maintain my fat weight very easily LOL.

1-2. I eat whatever I want, but I do acknowledge that I probably eat less than a lot of people. A few days ago I had a 5 guys burger + fries, likely over 1500 calories but that was all I ate for the day. Age 53 and weight rarely fluctuates.

2 I would say. My weight gain was attendant to a lot of really bad habits and stress. I completely reformatted my life. When I eat and drink like I used to it’s fun in the moment and then I feel like garbage the next day. I never had a food or hunger issue, just too much hooch, poor sleep, and poor food timing and selection.

I take it you haven’t hit your 40s yet or peri/menopause?
