I think it's a great school for very independent types

Spread throughout? It's almost all along commonwealth and then Kenmore square. It's as compact as any other city campus. The only outlier is the medical school, but undergrad isn't spread out at all.

BU over NYU any day of the week.

Great school. Excellent academics. Very underrated for what it offers. Respected academics with great grad school placement. Hard to get into. 2023 acceptance rate 10.7%. RD much lower. Has essays and no EA, only ED.

NP here. It most definitely is spread out, moreso than GW. We visited recently, and DS took BU off his list for that very reason. He is also hoping for a higher ranked school (queue the list makers in 3,2,1...).

I always thought of the GW campus being pretty compact...except for the Mt Vernon campus...and the Loudoun campus

It's all easily walkable and most is along the same T line. It's more walkable than a large public university

My daughter was very interested till we visited. She hated the campus and thought the admissions presentation was terrible-now that we are done with the process it stands out as the most unappealing visit of the many many schools we saw.

Having said that, other than the spread out campus I think it’s probably a great place to go to school-I think the admissions team just hit a very unappealing note.

It's like two three long strips of roads. Nothing compact about it.

NYU at least has a central place, Washington Square park, and buildings are around it.
Feels much cozier and vibrant.

8% v 11% acceptance rate. Yeah, it's like a remedial NYU.

Acceptance rate isn't everything, quality of students is way more important (case in point: Northeastern). BU gets a lot of applicants but NYU's academics are significantly better. NYU's grad schools are also all significantly better.

Do Northeastern.

It has a self contained campus in the same city of Boston.

nope. hard pass

Are you OP?
For others, basically Northeastern = BU + Campus.

NYU, BU, NEU all have similar student quality although NEU has the best on the paper.

BU is a great school for the right kid. Very independent and self-motivated. Loves being in the city. Does their own thing. It is the wrong school for someone looking for a rah-rah go-team please hold my hand school. The freshman dorms mostly suck. Warren Towers is legit Soviet. But by sophomore or junior year, students will have access to the brownstones, which are ideal student housing. There are always a lot of great professors at BU. And Boston is the best city on earth to be a student in.

It's not for everyone. But for the right kid, it's a good place.

C'mon... we all know the NYU student body is significantly better than the Northeastern student body. That's not even a debate. I believe Northeastern used to simply give full tuition for national merit people like the University of Alabama does, but they might've stopped it recently.
