| We haven’t visited and not sure if we will be able to - would be interested in hearing more about Boston University - the good and bad. Is it a self contained campus in a city (like Georgetown)? |
| It’s more like GW. |
| Not a self contained campus. In a nice part of Boston (Back Bay / Fenway). |
| the dorms along commonwealth avenue look like something out of Russia during the 50s. |
| Very much integrated into the city around it, no "campus" as such. But as others have said a nice part of Boston overall for someone looking for that kind of college experience. |
+1 |
| lovely Charles river backdrop along the campus edge. Fun part of Boston, ballpark, subway, airport, etc |
Do Northeastern. It has a self contained campus in the same city of Boston. |
nope. hard pass |

My son from NOVA was seriously considering. Loves Boston. Not a campus. Ugly buildings.
Honestly, it makes GW look like UVA. Didnt bother him though. Close proximity to Harvard, MIT and NEU. Does look fun. Offered decent merit but couldn't justify the cost. Went with UMD CS instead. |
| A couple of girls from my HS went to BU and mostly lived in shared houses, row houses from the 1900s-1930s which were solid, big rooms, easy walk / taking the T to classes. Safe areas too. |
| It's not pretty, and it's very expensive. That said, one of my kids' friends went there and LOVED it. She has a wide range of interests and was able to explore them all, whether academically or through extra curriculars. For kids who like a big, diverse environment, it's very good. |
| Grade deflation |
| It's basically the worse version of NYU - worse academics, worse city, worse experience overall, but easier to get into. If your child is a city person it's a great option, but keep in mind there is little-to-no school spirit and no unified campus, it's dispersed throughout the city. I think it's a great school for very independent types |
8% v 11% acceptance rate. Yeah, it's like a remedial NYU.
