What are middle school girls wearing?

They all look the same, OP. Jeans, t-shirt, hoodie. Nobody is wearing a dress.

I despise that look

Oversize tees / hoodies and either leggings and shorts might have the. closest feel to dresses for your dd.

I would buy her at least one staple piece from Lululemon like a gray shortsleeved Swiftly Tech or a Scuba sweater. A lot of girls have pink Nirvana sweatshirts from Urban Outfitters. For bottoms go for leggings, athletic shorts, and pink/gray/black sweatpants from brands like Nike or Brandy Melvile. For shoes I would do a classic white pair of Air Force Ones, Blazers, or Air Max 270s and Uggs for Winter. My daughter also likes oversized shirts from Altar'd State.

My kids hate the look and make fun of the kids who do this

ugg slippers and team pajama pants seem like part of the uniform for most sports at DD's high school

Flare leggings (yoga pants)
Nike blazers
Sweatshirts and crewnecks
Ugg minis
Lululemon shorts
Graphic tee shirts (target or urban outfitters)
Claw clips for hair
Generic wide leg sweatpants

I would stay away from bright/crazy patterns, especially on pants. Mostly just generic colors. If you’re not looking to spend a lot of money on shoes and clothes, I know Walmart has some good stuff, like shoes similar to Nike air forces (just white leather shoes). As long as they look similar it shouldn’t be a problem.

I would never recommend Walmart or Target for clothing or shoes. They are boxy and unflattering.

For just a little more you can take a trip to the Mall and get an idea of,what is out there. American Eagle, Madewell, Holliston all pretty basic. Adidas is great for the athleisure wear, more sporty and comfortable. Also Uniqlo has a variety of basic cute clothing. Offline by Aerie has excellent comfortable clothes geared towards tweens/teens and has great sales.

I wouldn’t recommend Lululemon because moms and grandmoms wear it doing their errands every day. They stay out of the teen stores I mentioned for the most part.

What a flex to acknowledge that your kids are the @ssholes that make fun of people for their clothes.

As a parent of tween girls, you need to pick your clothing battles wisely. Bra tops and booty shorts, yup I’ll fight that battle. PJ pants, that is a ridiculous hill to choose to die on.

You must not know any MS girls. They are obsessed with Lululemon and all wear it.

My 7th grade daughter goes to school in Baltimore and this list is right on, except for the graphic tees. Add Air Force ones to the list and that is what all her classmates are wearing. Didn’t realize these middle school girls are so predictable!

Seriously, have you been to a public MS lately, plaid pajama pants everywhere. And can we also stop calling the clothing choices of tween/teen girls trashy, it’s not the burn you think it is.
