What are middle school girls wearing?

Anonymous
My daughter has some significant special needs, and will be entering a large, public middle school this fall. She's also my oldest, so I don't have a much reference on what middle school girls are wearing. Given her situation, my main goal is to reduce bullying options for other kids, not to make her the fashion queen of the school.

If kids generally just wear what they did in 5th, that's great. If there are certain things to stay away from because she could be teased for being baby-ish, please let me know. She likes to wear dresses, and it's best that she not wear bottoms with clasps or buttons.

Not much Seriously. I would not worry about this. Kids aren’t that mean anymore.
From what I can see, except for the crop tops, it’s pretty much the same as 5th grade. I don’t see a lot of dresses, but lots of baggy flannel pj pants and sweatshirts. Just have her wear what is comfortable.

Mine is very into athletic apparel. Athleta and Lululemon to be specific. Which is kinda annoying because her clothing costs as much as mine does now! Lol. At least she’s not into designer jeans yet.

Lots of tiny running shorts, biker shorts, sports bras, and tanks. Nike slides.

My daughter wears mostly athletic clothes. She loved Lululemon but only has a couple of things. Your daughter will blend in if you get her short black or white shorts, solid color tops and black leggings. They wear a lot of crop tops but a solid color tee without a logo would be fine. DD and her friends all bought these shorts in black and white. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CBFCNSZJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title&th=1

As for jeans, a lot of girls wear regular and jean shorts. My daughter doesn’t like how they feel so never does.

I do see them wear dresses sometimes but like they are tiny tight dresses, not summer flowy dresses.

For shoes, pastel crocs. Light blue is popular. One of my kids have chunky white sneakers and the other has a regular pair of Nikes.

Dresses would stick out a bit. Athletic wear for warm weather - running shorts and plain Ts or tanks. They sometimes wear giant hoodies with shorts so it looks like they’re not wearing anything on the bottom.

Add in PJ pants in the winter and this is exactly our Arlington middle school.

Do you guys let your kids go to school wearing PJ pants?! So trashy imo

Dresses? No.

Middle schoolers and 5th graders dress very differently. Usually 6th graders start innocent enough but then are corrupted.

Shorts and oversized tees when it’s hot. (Go to Urban Outfitters for oversized shirts)
Lululemon
Cargo pants and tight tanks
Oversized sweatshirts
