| I believe if I get below $1500 I get charged a monthly amount. I typically keep about 5k in there because otherwise I might overdraft (if daycare, credit card and mortgage all come out the same day right before payday) |
You're not a moron at all. You do whatever you feel comfortable with. |
| my husband is weird about money so he doesn't want it to go below $12k. We're retired. |

I always have $30k in my checking account. If it goes below, it stresses me out.
I’m realizing this is probably because once when I was like 9, my mom had $30k on her bank receipt. In retrospect that was probably a savings account. I’m sure I’m missing out on interest and stuff but I have so many bills that auto pay and what if I need to buy something major unexpectedly? I don’t know what that would be, I guess like an emergency car for fleeing the city? |
| Around 4-5k. We tend to have a wide swing throughout the month. DH is only paid once a month so there is a huge deposit at the start of the month. Then we pay mortgage and credit cards around the 7th. I get paid every other week so that help level it out at the end of the month. I will also move money to our money market or brokerage account if we start to accumulate to much near the end of the month. |
| Around $1,000, although sometimes $1500 and sometimes it's $800. |
| Never less than $25-30K across three accounts - personal, business, and rental property. Business income is not smooth, and quarterly taxes and payroll always need to be paid. Rental property has lumpy expenses like repairs or vacancy. Not sure how people get by with so little. I could probably keep less if I felt like making a lot of transfers. |

If I don't get a low balance email before pay day, I'm a happy camper.

| Wish i had that much to just leave lying around. |

$20K, but that's our emergency fund really.
|
| I used to freak if below 20k. Always expecting an emergency that never came. But a year ago decided to max what is invested and now get below 1000 regularly. I think that’s both nerve wracking and also more profitable. So I will stick with it. |
| I like to keep a cushion of $6-8K. |
I feel seen

| $500 |
| We keep most of our money in our checking account. I know this is stupid. So there is like $130-$150k usually. Last time it was low was when we bought a house - think we got below $10k but quickly rebounded. |
