| How low do you let your bank account go each month after all of your bills are paid? My husband won't let ours go below $1500, which is probably smart. So our bank account ranges from $32,000 to $1500 each month depending when things are withdrawn and paychecks are deposited. |
| Around there. I pay the bills and sweep what's remaining ex-$1000-1500 into hy savings and brokerage accounts |
| $100 |
| Around $3-4k. If it dips under 4, I will take a second to think when deposits will hit. Our biggest expenses are our mortgage, which is 3k, and our credit card bill which we pay off in full each month and can vary. But we just check the balance before paying the credit card bill and transfer money if needed. Transfers of up to 10k from our savings account happen instantaneously, so it's never an issue, and I'd rather be earning 3% on it than nothing. |
| $2000 before I add some. It usually stays $5000 and above and not because my income is high, but because my expenses are low. |
You mean my checking account? I like mine to always have at least 5k in it. The fact that it's not earning interest doesn't bother me. I like the security of always having something there. My saving account has my emergency fund, plus a bit extra. |
| I don’t really monitor it. I transfer more if I get the message from the bank about “insufficient funds.” |
OP here - yes sorry checking account! |
Same… if I have more than $2k for a week I move it to savings |
| Also about $2,000. $60K in savings/emergency fund at the same bank and occasionally top off the checking account from there if needed. |
| People who take home $32k/month worrying about not getting too low a minimum balance in their checking account. LOL. This site never ceases to amaze me. Sometimes I think it is fake. |
OP here - I didn't say I was worried I was just wondering how low people let their checking account go. We have so many bills automatically taken out that its hard to keep track of. |
| 100. |
| I’m kind of a moron - and I have $30k that I am theoretically saving in my checking. I’m about to put $20K in something that earns more interest. I’m leaving $10K in because I’m a moron and don’t always know what we have automatically paying out of it and I don’t want to over draw it |
| I only keep 2000-3000 in checking account (earns almost no interest), it's linked to high yield savings account so I move money as needed. |
