Homemade bread. Four or five choices.

NP. You want OP to make 4 different kinds of homemade bread? To go with a rice dish?

You missed a thread yesterday where OPs DH asked her to home bake 4-5 different types of bread for guests.

Ah, okay. I did indeed miss that thread!

Yikes indeed, that recipe has 2 stars.

DH loves it. I don’t make the tuna as indicated in recipe but follow the rest.

It has very bad reviews.

Anonymous wrote:That looks delicious. I think a simple salad is perfect, and would not provide more at dinner given the rice and veggies in the dish. What I’d do instead is focus on some delicious apps. You didn’t ask for suggestions but I’d do a caprese salad with baguette slices on the side, and a hard cheese with fresh fruit like cherries and rice crackers.

Love that - had already planned on the caprese but will add the cheese and fruit. TY!

Got it. As per above, DH loves it so it’s on the menu.

Garlic green beans and/or a vinegary cucumber salad - something like this: https://www.hauteandhealthyliving.com/easy-asian-cucumber-salad/#:~:text=What%20is%20this%3F&text=Sliced%20cucumbers%20and%20red%20onions,a%20hit%20with%20the%20family! (I haven’t made that specific recipe before though so can’t vouch for it)

Maybe some kind of crispy wonton cup for an app?

Green salad with shredded carrot, pickled shallots, carrot ginger dressing.

I used to make a dish similar to this one, adding a ramen egg. Agree with previous posters on a vinegar-based or pickled julienned carrots, radishes or other thin strips of vegetables. They can help cut through the fatty avocado/tuna.

You could also serve some vegetable dumplings or spring rolls as an app or side for the table to share.

Snap peas are in season, and they are so easy as just a raw side.

Not OP but where can I find pickled shallots?

You can make them at home.

Are you confident your guests would enjoy this dish? I would add some not so healthy take out sides: vegetable rolls, scallion pancakes. Purchase some seaweed salad. Microwave some edamame.

Great ideas - thanks. I occasionally make a quick pickle of cucumbers and radishes so will add them to the menu.

I'm PP - slice thinly and soak in seasoned rice wine vinegar. That's it! I pickle lots of things that way - radishes, carrots, cucumbers, red onions, etc.

Caprese?? Why on earth. It’s dish with Asian flavors , caprese doesn’t go with that . If anything I would go to HMart and get some banchan- kimchi, seaweed salad, soy sauce eggs, etc.
