Whitman Graduation Postponed

We're bummed, but we're still going out as planned. It's never a bad day to celebrate at Hooters!

Oh, THAT Michelin starred restaurant!

Whitman—What? No gym or auditorium at the school?

Do these MCPS staff flunkies not realize that you can't simply change a dinner reservation at a Michelin-starred restaurant on the fly? Do they think we all celebrate our kids's graduations at Olive Garden and can just show up whenever we want? Why didn't MCPS have a back-up plan for this once-in-a-generation unique set of environmental circumstances that would have allowed them to move the ceremony inside and still have it this morning? Thanks, Monifa. Typical lack of preparedness from MCPS even until the bitter end.

Is this satire? Because if not, I get the disappointment, but this is next-level Karen-ism!!!!!!

Please stop blaming people who have the name Karen for everything.

Most aren't large enough to accomodate.

This would be the way to handle it?

Why does OP *need* to change the reservation? Just get dressed and go have dinner and celebrate. Sure, it's not quite the same, but you are a freakin clueless idiot if you think MCPS should have been able to forsee all this and make arrangements in 24 hours for a large scale graduation.

Oops, your snob is showing.

Had you extemporized in a less disparaging manner to MCPS staff, who is not to blame and only wants to protect people from harmful air quality, I would have sympathized. As it is... no.

Getting an indoor space for a high school graduation at the drop of a hat for an unexpected event that has never happened before in our region... is HARDER than changing your Michelin reservation.

Ah well. Foie gras dinner another time, eh, OP?
Your suffering is on par with the asthma crises and heart attacks from our CODE PURPLE and CODE MAROON AIR.

Clearly spoken as a plebeian who has never had the finest foie gras this side of France!

I am French, from Paris. And I have demi-cuit foie gras in my fridge right now, sent from Paris by my BIL. This is why I thought of that example, cher ami

Yes, it's satire. Everyone knows there aren't any Olive Gardens in Montgomery County.

I beg to differ.. the set that goes to a michelin restaurant would not know this. I'm impressed that they even know what an Olive Garden is.

There also aren't any Michelin-starred restaurants in Montgomery County.

Why stay in MoCo? Our jet will be ready to go..

This was a weird post....not sure it proved the point the OP thought it did, but whatever.

Op, gtfoh with your Michelin star crap. You’ve got to be joking, right?

I hate to say this, but they made the right call because the air is hazardous and sitting out is unhealthy. Stuff happens in life. It’s inconvenient but what are they supposed to do?

Yeah. "Karen" is already out of favor b/c people realized it's misogynistic.

Students in gym, parents in auditorium. Done.
Remember, there was no graduation at the beginning of COVID. Just get this over with already.

That's why instead of saying 'Karens' I started calling annoying Bethesda people 'Howards.' Never met a non-pretentious Howard.

This is very much like the post from years ago when discussing a boundary change, and some mom was upset because their DD might not have the kind of prom they were looking forward to if they were sent to a "worse" school.

I love dcum. So entertaining.
