I’m sorry but why in the world are you on a thread about the Big 3 if you don’t even live in the DMV? And who are you to comment on the high school education that kids in private schools that you have no experience with are getting? I see time again posters who don’t live in the DMV but commenting on the college admissions forum saying that, hey, this is a national forum and college admissions is a national issue - fine, I guess, but this thread sure isn’t. You are obsessed. |
PP here. I also have to add that your kids are ALREADY IN COLLEGE! |
NP here. I am local and a “big 3” parent (barf), but I do not agree with you. Unless you think for some reason the DC area privates are faring worse than counterparts in other cities, then the “out of DC big 3” poster’s comments are very relevant and appreciated. |
+1. The "parent of a kid in a Big 3 ish school in another city" is likely a troll. Big3 college counselors visit this site often. |
Was this year actually bad for the Big 3? I know we are getting the last results (outside of WL movement). |
And that is the problem! Your smart kid will be fine wherever they go. Just because you paid $25-50K/year K-12 does NOT entitle your kid to a T20 acceptance. |
Get over yourself! People from all over read this forum. There is no requirement that you live in DC, although many of us had previously. Having previously lived in DC and moving during my kids’ school years, I am very familiar with the DC private school scene. Are you disputing that the kids in Big 3 schools are getting a great education that will prepare them for college?????? Or are you just uncomfortable that I called you out? I mentioned that my kid is in a similar school to give you the perspective that I understand paying over $200k for high school and then having your kid not go to an Ivy. Your response shows quite a bit about your personality and your sense of entitlement. |
Most apply EA to UVA/Umich/UMD and get in. That will be a choice option for some and a fall back for many. . |
Are there a lot going ED2 to Chicago or similar schools again this year? |
Nope. Not a troll. Just someone who is appalled at some of the entitlement I read here. |
One is in college and the other is a senior headed to a 75-100 school. |
Not a lot in ED2 |
You do not belong on this thread. Period. And yes you are obsessed. Very, very odd behavior for you to be here. |
Interesting, more rolling the dice with RD this year. |
FYI - UMD isn't even guaranteed among strong Big 3 students in the current environment - just saying. |
