The number of applicants (or the acceptance rate) is NOT a factor in calculating the rankings. So the fact that they require 4 essays, all scores and don't use the common app have no impact on anything other than the number of applicants. |
Georgetown will always have a good market, but it feels as if George Mason is the DMV school with the momentum. |
Hard to have momentum when you're already ranked 22. Gtown is just fine |
| Georgetown's endowment is a significant $3.2 billion. This is enough to remain ranked in the top 30 National Universities. Plus, in addition to excellent academic programs, location, location, location. |
And they are undertaking a $3 billion campaign. That and hopefully the resurgence of the basketball team are good news for Georgetown. |
Number of applicants does factor in the acceptance rate, and acceptance rate is a very significant criteria in ranking universities and colleges, dumbass.
The other requirements are a sign that they don't bow to stupid trends, which is a good thing. |
3.2 billion is nothing for a university that wants to stay around the top 20. This is the latest top 25 largest endowments. Georgetown isn't even close to the bottom of the list.

| Georgetown T30? Only in your mind. Lol |
Isn’t it already a top 30? Not top 20 at #22. |
Yes. It bounced between about 18 and 23 on most rankings. The SFS is the best in the country and has a low single digit admit rate. |
| It’s so strange how much DCUM hates Georgetown |
Acceptance rate, however, does factor in, and when there are thousands of potential applicants who pass because GU doesn't take the common app, that does impact the overall rankings. |
No it doesn't. USNWR does not utilize data on acceptance rate to come up with rankings. See earlier comment. |

Georgetown already has the reputation and name recognition of a top 15 school. That isn't changing and has never been tied to endowment.
Once they start an ED and ED2 program, they'll be able to improve their student stats pretty quickly too (Chicago did this well). ED2 would be especially powerful for Georgetown. Being a Catholic school is a positive for some people and Georgetown's more liberal environment make it far different than say Notre Dame in that regard as a negative for others (almost a win-win for Georgetown there). |
Gtown has not been below rank of 20 since 1994. 2022 - 23 2021 - 23 2020 - 24 2019 - 22 2018 - 20 2017 - 20 2016 - 21 2015 - 21 2014 - 20 2013 - 21 2012 - 22 2013 - 21 2012 - 22 2011 - 21 2010 - 23 2009 - 23 2008 - 23 2007 - 23 2006 - 23 2005 - 25 2004 - 23 2003 - 24 2002 - 22 2001 - 23 2000 - 23 1999 - 20 1998 - 21 1997 - 23 1996 - 21 1995 - 25 1994 - 17 1993 - 17 1992 - 19 1991 - 19 1990 - 25 1989 - 17 |
