Then don't. Proof of residency is required for enrollment as allowed by Virginia law. Your kid is already enrolled, so the burden falls to the school if they want to unenroll them based on residency. Hopefully at least one obstinate parent refuses and then appeals it though the courts if the school takes action. |
You don’t think the court would be pissed at the waste of resources when all people need to do if provide one document? |
And all bc they “don’t want to” 😂. How ridiculous, you guys have probably spent more time reading this thread than it would’ve taken you to find the document. |
I also suspect there is substantial address fraud. Or vehicle property tax fraud. Perhaps both. |
Exactly. I had to hunt down my deed when my first went to kindergarten. But now I know exactly what it looks like and where it is filed in my house. Has it moved around OP? You need a family filing system. Even just a filing box with important stuff in one place is a good idea. This shouldn't be a difficult ask. |
This is the correct answer. |
Found the resident fraud/a-hole. |
It takes no time to not bother. The county knows where I live when it sends me property and vehicle tax bills, it can figure out where I live for enrollment purposes too |
+1 over my experience working in APS and sending my kids to school there have always been 10+ cars with Maryland plates at drop off. While some of them may be mixed custody/babysitting there are a decent number that are either living outside of Arlington or using an address to register their car in Maryland to avoid taxes. APS was recently hiring for a residency fraud investigator so I think it’s about to get stricter. |
Arlington county and APS are separate entities. |
I doubt it. They’re probably just one of those people who gets furious at everything APS does or does not do |
then I guess you can figure out how to reenroll your kid when they unenroll you. spoiler alert - you need proof of residency for that. have fun. |
they probably also complain about residence fraud but then also complain when APS does something about it |
Technically the 5th and 8th graders are not enrolled in their future schools yet. That’s probably why they picked those years. |
And if you are in a choice school, you may lose your spot. I am sure the people on the waitlist at HB will gladly take it from you, while providing proof of residency in a timely manner. |
