Middle aged mom hair

I have a shag and it looks awesome. And it will grow nicely too if I decide to go for the Rachel cut

The “bixie” has to be really really well cut and styled daily to avoid a frumpy look. But definitely better than the mullet.

The bixie strikes me as extremely "mom hair." I mean it's basically a short stacked bob, right?

Is your hair straight, wavy, or curly? Any pics of similar cuts to share? Thanks!

I would never attempt to cut my own hair if I wanted it short. The back is too hard to cut decently. Go to a barber if you don't want to spend much. They are better with cutting short hair. DH spends like $20 on his haircut at a barber.

Try a good barber for $20, they can do short cuts better than salon stylists.

Does pixie mullet = Carol Brady hairdo?

My hair is slightly wavy, I do prefer to use Revlon brush or flat iron for a couple of pieces, just to smooth them out.
This hairstyle has many different versions, I think it goes under #wolfcut

...pixie mullets, you guys. This is the type of cut I feel like I spent my teenage years trying to avoid when I was growing out short hair. I hate hate hate it. This dates me, right? What kind of short cut can I get that looks cute and stylish that...isn't that? Or do I just accept that I will never be stylish again?

The answer to this is easy. Go to a salon. No, you are not going to find yourself a stylish haircut with your partner doing what you found on Pinterest at home with your length of hair.

omg. Are your married to another woman or in a poly relationship with a guy who makes soundscapes and his wife who is a professionally knitter, and you live in portland, maine? Do not get a mullet cut and wear it around here, I beg you.

Get a professsional to cut your hair. THey have training and experience to make good suggestions (that your partner probably doesnt have).

LOl, how practical. Especially the second cut.

These are all hilariously bad.

They really paint a picture and they're kind of selling a mullet to me. If I tried to mullet it would look like a punk rocker wig though.

I'm thinking about getting a shag. My hair is about as long as it will get, and while it is wavy when shorter, the wave gets "weighted down", I guess, when it's longer. I think a shag will add the wave back in. I have a round face, though, and I'm afraid it will just look rounder with a shag.

Thanks but that isn't the answer because it wasn't the question! I said I don't want to go to a salon without a different style in mind because I don't want to wind up with a neater version of basically the same look. I've only ever been to one hairstylist who could take "do anything you want just make me look good" and do it, and that stylist is now 8 hours away. I'm looking for style ideas, not DIY advice.
