What’s the biggest age gap among siblings you’ve ever seen or known, especially full siblings?

21 years. My high school friend had a sister the same age as my mother. My friend was the baby of her family.

My great grandparents had two children, a boy and a girl, 18 months apart in the first couple of years after they married. They then had another boy and girl, also under two years apart, almost 20 years later when they were in their early 40s. My mom’s aunt was her age and her lifelong best friend.

Well over 20 years for large families with multiple children in between oldest and youngest.

I have a friend due in a few months whose oldest is 17. I think the gap between the youngest and the baby will be 12y.

I knew a family who had kids born in roughly 1970, 1980 and 1991. Bigger age gap than between those three than between the oldest and youngest in any of the big families I know, even the one with eleven kids.

My dad was one of 18 (rural Appalachia). My grandma had her first baby at 17 and her last baby at 52. So 37 years....

HE was fourth from the last, so I have many cousins who were significantly older than my dad was.

My mom is the second child in her family and she was in college when her youngest sibling was born. Her older sibling was already done with college when the youngest sibling was born.

My grandmother had her first two children as a teen.

A friend of mine might soon be having a kid who will be 30+ years younger than his other 2. He had first two around ages 25-30. He is now 57 years old, recently married a 39 year old and they are trying for a baby. He has 4 grandchildren ranging from an infant to a 6 YO.

My mom is the youngest of 8 kids. There are 21 years between my mom and her oldest sister. Huge family, not Catholic! My grandmother was 42 when my mom was born.
