Europe isn’t poor. Yes, part of it are, but their quality of life is still better than that of poor people in Appalachia. Salaries are lower and more people live in apartments/condos, even in wealthy areas, but their quality of life is still superior to a middle class American in a large SFH. They can take the afternoon off to spend at the lake, they travel for weeks at a time, and their healthcare is affordable. They are not constant stressed about who will take care of their sick children because they have no PTO. |

French life expectancy for men in 2021 was 79.4 years.
US life expectancy for white men was 76.71. US has massive racial disparities that it hasn't truly addressed yet. |
So move back to France. |
Never lived in France. They wouldn’t want me. |
Do you get 6-8 weeks vacation a year? How many of your friends and relatives do? |
+1 Lots of people here like to talk about their "family values", but how many times have you been at Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner and someone has to leave to go in to work? Usually a retail store (especially on Thanksgiving). It's all about the money. Time with family and friends is more valued there. It's no wonder we have so many people with mental problems and in therapy. |
I currently have 400+ hours of vacation. Why in the hell would I want 8 weeks vacation? That's why Europeans are poor. Their productivity is trash, they barely invent anything anymore, and life for them is about coasting by with your bare essentials met. Hey, if mediocrity appeals to you, move to Europe. All of the vacation and time off in Europe is so overrated. The trade off are often salaries that are nearly half of what you'd get paid in the US. I don't want or need 8 weeks off. Pay me more money please, thanks. |
LOL. |
You know you can’t take it with you, right? Everyone dies. No one brings their bank account to the afterworld. |
this. |
my here are studies that show even the wealthiest white americans are more likely to experience despair, deaths, car accidents than middle class white europeans. but sure blame black people and other people of color. also, look at the whitest states such as west virginia and kentucky. |

This is how bums, non-inventors, and lazy people think. Living in the UK, for example, making $50k salary that you'd easily get paid $100k for in the US sucks. People in Europe constantly scrape by because of extremely low salaries, stagnant exonomies, and incomes thst just never grow. It's almost as if you missed the yellow vest protests in France. Buy hey, at least you got 8 weeks of vacation while you're poor. |
Yep. It’s NOT a race thing There are racial differences in many of these outcomes but not this one |
And yet US cities never rank highly in the Economist Intelligence Unit's global liveability index. https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurabegleybloom/2022/08/17/the-us-is-not-one-of-the-worlds-best-places-to-live-heres-why/?sh=79c6b5e0392d |
