Presents from Santa

Anonymous
We told our kids early on that every parent is Santa's helper and often we're asked to wrap the gifts ourselves. That worked.

She doesn’t have one and never has, also no phone ( she’s 10 and still believes) also from Santa, a switch memory card, books, arts stuff, socks, chocolate coins and a Lindt Santa. We do about 6-8 gifts from us as well.

Why aren't you concerned at her lack of critical thinking skills?

Santa gives one or two presents and he borrows the wrapping paper sometimes but has different handwriting.

For us Santa just does stockings which is all candy and small (unwrapped) items like little toys or trinkets. Everything else is from us and is wrapped.

I grew up in a home where Santa did not wrap his gifts.

Santa paper but we don’t hide it. We leave it next to his cookies and milk so he can wrap “his” gifts when he gets to our house. This is why you can’t stay up to see Santa because then you’d see him wrapping your gifts and you’d know what you got! Santa doesn’t want you to ruin the surprise.

Santa gives 2-3 regular gifts and 2-3 stocking items. Santa does not usually give the “big” gifts— those come from us or grandparents. He gives fun gifts though, and generally items straight off the wishlist.

our ratio of Santa:parent gifts is about equal (hey, I gotta get credit for some!). He also uses his own paper. I wish I had started on the 'santa doesn't wrap' trend from the get go but it's too late to go back now I'm afraid. I also try to disguise my handwriting but this year I printed off tags so I don't have to do that.

We used Santa paper (with actual Santas on it--several different kinds) for gifts form Santa and non-Santa paper from us. Santa gave about half of the gifts, but the really good ones were always from us. Disguised my handwriting and used different labels for Santa gifts. Santa also did stockings. This is our first year without Santa and it has been easier with the wrapping.

Same. Santa gifts are in Santa paper or bags. Santa also does stockings but doesn't wrap anything in there (candy and trinkets) unless it's large-ish.

We have two kids and do the want/need/wear/read gifts from us, and then Santa brings one or two gifts off the wishlist plus stockings.

I like this gift tag idea. We don't use tags (so don't have to disguise handwriting). Two kids, each has a different wrapping paper (usually snowmen for one, animals for the other) and the gifts are put on that kid's side of the tree. Santa gifts in Santa wrapping paper are put on the appropriate side or in the middle if shared.

Where we landed is that Santa fills stockings (items are wrapped in tissue paper) and one unwrapped “big” gift from child’s Santa list. All other gifts are in different wrapping paper and are from mom and dad.

Same. Santa leaves the bike or big Lego set or whatever & never wraps gifts. He also fills the stockings. That is all. That’s how I grew up as well.

because she has a good imagination and is otherwise smart, intelligent and kind. I’m good with how she is turning out.
