My oldest is at the age, where he still believes in santa but has started to notice "inconsistencies" . (Aka -- Santa has the SAME wrapping paper as you do?!? )
How do you guys handle presents from Santa? Does he only bring one and the rest are from you? does he bring them all? Does Santa wrap his presents or are they unwrapped? Are they labeled differently? I feel like I need to pick a tradition and stick with it... |
We have Santa paper and are militant about hiding it ahead of Christmas. I also use a red pen and disguise my handwriting. We’re so consistent with it that one year one of our kids said _ Mom-hy don’t you & Dad give us anything? Now remember to have one gift from us!
Santa does not wrap! How would he have time?? Santa does stockings and a few gifts.
I use different paper. She gets at least one thing on her Santa list plus other stuff. This year she asked for an iPad so we’re getting that. She doesn’t have one and never has, also no phone ( she’s 10 and still believes) also from Santa, a switch memory card, books, arts stuff, socks, chocolate coins and a Lindt Santa. We do about 6-8 gifts from us as well.
Everyone in our house gave a gift to everyone else. The rest of the presents came from Santa. Like PP, Santa had his own paper and we hid it. Instead of gift tags, Santa used the kids’ pictures as a tag. I’d just print a bunch and punch a hole and put a ribbon through the hole.
PP here. Santa also always brought the big gifts.
We have Santa paper. Sometimes Santa doesn't wrap, but our DD likes unwrapping stuff. This year, she's getting a tennis racket that's wrapped but still looks exactly like a tennis racket which I find funny.
Santa presents are never wrapped in our house.
Same in our house but Santa gives the BIG gift! |
We ignore the Santa component completely. When asked we confirmed it's old men who dress up for a holiday, the same way people dress up on Halloween.
Santa does one big toy gift and stockings and does not wrap. Parents also get stockings from santa. We give a couple things per kid from us, usually non toy things like books, craft supplies, etc. They also get one Christmas Eve box which has a book and matching PJs. Siblings give each other one thing. Grandparents give gobs and gobs of stuff which drives me nuts. So everything but Santa presents are wrapped.
If they are old enough to notice the inconsistencies why go to great lengths? I've stopped going out of my way to use different paper, hide the handwriting, and I've hidden most of the gifts but not in super hard to find places. At some point the jig is up and we all just kind of play along. My youngest is 7 and the oldest is 12, the 12 y/o definitely doesn't believe anymore. I cared more when there were littler and all in on the magic. Santa brings almost everything, but for electronics and things that are beyond elf capabilities, the kids barely read the tags anyway.
Santa is a bit of a narcissist, he only leaves presents in gift bags that have his picture on them or uses wrapping paper with his image on it. Said wrapping paper/gift bags are in the very bag of our storage closet.
Oh yeah, our kids 100% know they don't visit the real Santa. Those are Santa's helpers. |
Santa only does one present in his own bag/wrapping paper.
