Harry & Meghan Part 2

Meghan is a saint and brilliant and beautiful woman. You're just jealous

I liked them and I can’t believe there’s still a royal family. It’s insane that Brits don’t mind supporting them. Dissolve that silliness.

Why though? They mean nothing to us here.

Why did someone start a gushy thread about Bella Hadid? People are weird

I said from the beginning H&M were outshining W&K. That could not happen to future King and Queen of England. Shame on them not standing up for her. Imagine th food H&M could have done for charities if the BRF supported them.

I’m also amazed at people who seek a public life and then are amazed that they cannot control the narrative. The most healthy celebrities with healthy kids are the ones who treat celebrity as a side effect of their job, don’t read their own press and don’t peddle their personal lives for press. The problem with the Sussex family is that their personal life is their celebrity and their goal. People aren’t interested in them for anything they have done. It’s like that old cocaine commercial you like cocaine so you work more, so you can make more money, so you can buy more cocaine, so you can work more, to make more money….. There is no win here.

I fully agree that the trolls and threats and hatred from the British tabloid press was too much and that the royal family should have been more outspoken against all of that racist hatred. I honestly don’t see what else Meghan and Harry could have done but either step back (which is what they offered to do) or leave (which is what they were forced to do).

All that said, I can see where Meghan can sometimes come off as forced, self-focused and calculating. But I also think she comes across at times as genuinely warm, caring, philanthropic and is clearly very much in love with her husband and is a good mom. So I can see not being a fan of her, but I don’t understand how people can hate her and focus on hating her.

New poster here. Your characterization of Meghan is exactly my read. Like, sure, she seems a bit basic, but she has done absolutely nothing to warrant the sheer volume and scale of hatred and scrutiny and bullying that she has faced, day in and day out.

Same. I have no love for the monarchy, I think it’s a stupid institution that should die. But I think it’s pretty clear we are not getting the whole story.

This is so transparently a comment left by a serial Meghan hater who is trying hard to drum up more annoyance at the couple.

Curious, what do you think might have been left out?

Agree 100% on all points

Well he certainly gave Netflix their money’s worth by trashing his brother and calling his father a liar. I’m guessing this is what they wanted removed but of course Netflix wants their pound of flesh. Harry will regret this some day.

I think I missed that old cocaine commercial...

I thought it was fine. Seems to me they just want to put out their own story from their point of view in contrast to what The Daily Mail and other media put out about them. I cannot imagine why so many people hate them. Why do they matter so much to some people?

My biggest takeaways:

1. British tabloids are the worst. Not surprised.
2. People actually believe those tabloids. A little bit surprised.
3. The monarchy is useless and should go away. No change. I’ve always had that opinion.
4. Harry and Meghan are decent people who just want to be philanthropists like Diana. Great, use your fame to raise money. No complaints here.
5. Harry should be the next Sexiest Man Alive. A handsome, bearded ginger devoted to his wife who values her health and safety above all else? Yes, please!
