Harry & Meghan Part 2

Just binge watched the second half on this rainy day....what did others think?

I think it explains a lot.

I haven’t watched it yet, what did they say? I have seen the first 2 episodes and thought it was a little boring and self-indulgent so far but Meghan at least looks great.

2 hrs for the whole thing is too much. Couldn’t finish the first three. I mean Ken Burns covered the American response to the Holocaust from pre to post war in 6 hours. I’m also amazed at people who seek a public life and then are amazed that they cannot control the narrative. The most healthy celebrities with healthy kids are the ones who treat celebrity as a side effect of their job, don’t read their own press and don’t peddle their personal lives for press. The problem with the Sussex family is that their personal life is their celebrity and their goal. People aren’t interested in them for anything they have done. It’s like that old cocaine commercial you like cocaine so you work more, so you can make more money, so you can buy more cocaine, so you can work more, to make more money….. There is no win here.

I continue to think the documentary itself is very well put together. I completely understand Harry’s point of view. I fully agree that the trolls and threats and hatred from the British tabloid press was too much and that the royal family should have been more outspoken against all of that racist hatred. I honestly don’t see what else Meghan and Harry could have done but either step back (which is what they offered to do) or leave (which is what they were forced to do).

All that said, I can see where Meghan can sometimes come off as forced, self-focused and calculating. But I also think she comes across at times as genuinely warm, caring, philanthropic and is clearly very much in love with her husband and is a good mom. So I can see not being a fan of her, but I don’t understand how people can hate her and focus on hating her.

Loved it OP. Thought Harry + Meghan both came across despite all of their critics. I was actually a bit surprised at how smart they both seemed.

Certain women are upset that a Black woman married into the royal family and then decided she’s not going to subject herself ti their hatred and racism.

I wanted to love both parts. I wanted to find them more believable but I truly found myself questioning them in ways I hadn't before.

Because people like different things. Take your killjoy attitude elsewhere.

She had a miscarriage because miscarriages are very common, especially in your late 30s. She did not have a miscarriage because the British royal family and media caused it.
