Please post some elephant leg jeans. I’m curious. |

Looks like what I call "bell bottom" or "boot cut."
Funny that someone came up with "elephant leg"--maybe to avoid the 70s term "bell bottom"? |
I was going to ask the same. Wide leg. Bell bottoms? |
| So ugly. |
they're not bell bottoms - they're big all the way down the leg. |

Keep telling yourself that, Jan. |
They are 100% the "phat pants" that we wore to raves in the 90s. Everything old is new again, my friends. Deny it all you want, but it's true. |
Yes. It's like OP and her friends are trying to make fetch happen. |
$1550 to look like I dug a pair of 5x too big mens' jeans out of a dumpster? No thanks. |

As someone who has owned bell bottoms (1992-1993 early grunge), skater/rave (1997-1999) boot cut (2000-2006), and trouser (2006-2007) and sticks pretty closely to these trends, the current trend of "elephant leg" (a new term to me) is not the same as any of those. Obviously different from boot leg and bell bottom, which are tight through the thighs and flare out. The current trend is different than rave jeans - not sure how - but I guess much higher waist, plus the pockets are very different. WHich is why several previous posters said they are flattering on your butt and waist. The rave jeans had the huge pockets with diagonal lines that went part way down your thigh (to carry your wallet made out of duct tape and to show off your wallet chain). So i'd say that's the primary difference.
But agree that this term "elephant leg" is synonymous with the current understanding of "wide leg". Though interestingly, "wide leg" was also used in the 90s to describe the rave jeans, and in the late aughts to refer to trouser jeans. So "wide leg" seems to just mean whatever style is currently in that is not form fitting. |
I don't care what they're called. I mean, who cares. I'm jumping on. |
I'm the OP. Always my goal! |
