Best tips for borderline diabetics

I wouldn’t eliminate all carbs. Eliminate refined sugar and white flour as much as possible.

But do include a couple servings (2-3) daily of real whole grains or legumes/beans as your main source of carbs. Oats are great, so is sprouted grain bread like Ezekiel bread. They make English muffins, bread, wraps, buns. Quinoa , farro, and bulgar wheat are my favorites.

Yes have a protein with all your meals/snacks.

Yes try to move more, especially after eating.

I've had a lot of luck using Omeda to monitor my eating and get coaching for eating healthier and getting more exercise. 7 weeks in and I've lost 15 pounds. Haven't rechecked my A1C yet.

I don’t think people are diabetic from eating whole fruit. The problem is all the other junk they eat.

Obviously don’t drink juice or smoothies.

But if the only sweets you eat are apple and berries after a dinner of fish and greens, you are not going to have problems.

I only order salads. The salad options are so good these days. I never feel deprived.

Also, try not to go out for meals if you can avoid it. Why set yourself up for failure?

Just by saying no to appetizers, drinks and dessert, you cut down a lot. Instead of bread, take salad and order s grilled protein, fish or chicken.

Eating fresh fruit doesn’t make one diabetic, but once someone is diabetic, they may have to watch the total number of carbs they eat, regardless of whether the carbs come from fresh fruit and vegetables.

Most restaurant salads are gross. Except at very nice restaurants, but those are very small and meant as a first course.

Just order an entree that you like that the restaurant does well. Mostly ignore the starch component unless it is a whole grain- which many establishments are using now.
