There are some genetic components, but basically lose a few LBS and don't eat sweets.

Have protein first then carbs, for both meal and snacks. A 5-10 minute walk after a large or carb-heavy meal is a good idea.

Eliminate carbs. DH is diabetic. He’s always been in great shape, not overweight, doesn’t eat sweets. Eliminating carbs is the only thing that has worked for him.

+1 for me as well. Just modifying my carb intake led to me losing weight without any additional changes. Not a solution for everyone, but worked for me.

I got a continuous glucose monitor. It has taught me that I need to average 10k steps a day and avoid carby snacks, junk food, and sweets. If I do that, I can keep my average glucose around 90.

Get a glucose monitor. For me oatmeal spiked my sugar as much as Oreos. I had to switch to eggs for breakfast. It seems like it is pretty individual what spikes blood sugar. You may also find that exercising at different times of day has different effects. I only saw a big impact if I walked right after I ate.

Sweets very rarely, reduce carbs, daily exercise.

Everyone’s body doesn’t react the same way. If you really need to cut carbs, it may not matter if they’re “healthy” carbs. Some people need to limit all carbs, period.

Also, some people have blood sugar spikes from things you wouldn’t expect. I know one diabetic who says he always experiences a spike when he eats bacon. My brother’s blood sugar levels are strongly influenced by the amount of stress he’s under.

Less salt. It's a myth that consuming sugars is the worst thing for you, salt is worse.

Never, never, never eat carbs without protein. Exercise regularly, even "just" brisk walks, if you aren't already. Lose weight if needed.
