Takeoff (Migos) shot and killed

No. I hate that the video is out there and do not want to see it. But I've heard the same thing described.

Likewise. There’s no way I would watch something like that.

I did know who they were as a trio.

I even bought some of their specialty snacks a few yrs. ago.

My kids are all a few yrs. older than Takeoff - so as a Mother it pains me to imagine another Mother having to bury her child. 🕊🕊🕊
At twenty-eight this is such a travesty.

I do not know how many more people have to lose their life in this country before people get serious about gun control.

It happens so often here in the U.S. that it seems every time I pass a flagpole anywhere > the flag seems permanently flown at half-staff. 💔

From what I understand one of his own friends shot him. Hanging out with people who carry guns and are untrained can be dangerous. What does one need a gun for at a bowling alley?

It's almost like ... you're blaming him.

Just saying you gotta have some sense. One way not to get shot is not to hang out with dopey friends who carry guns and fancy themselves enforcers. Kind of like not getting into the car with a friend who’s been drinking.

Thanks for confirming what the pp said; victim blaming.

DP I don’t think it’s victim blaming, no different than Ice T warning rappers traveling to LA. If you are a rapper you need to do things differently, unfortunately they must choose people and places wisely.

I agree, don't hang out with people who have guns unless you're willing to die in a bowling alley.

Right so much better to wring our hands and say “How could this happen? Poor Takeoff. What an unfortunate event.” Instead of addressing the fact that there are so many people running around with guns, undisciplined and untrained such that these things happen all.the.time. Young people should know that you shouldn’t be friends with a knucklehead who has a gun that he carries to a bowling alley. Without the gun this is just a disagreement and a fist fight. There are so many damn people being shot minding their own business, children, that I don’t have time for a grown man who had every privilege and opportunity to not being making the choices he made.

DP. I actually heard that that was misinformation put out by J Prince because his son was involved. I watched a portion of the video that didn’t show him getting shot but the moments before and it did not look like it was one of his friends because the guy who was shooting seemed to point directly at Takeoff who was not even involved in the altercation.

Yup. Is saying Pop Smoke and his crew shouldn't have posted social media images of him with very large amounts of cash and jewelry and the location of their AirBnB also victim blaming?

Making a general statement to a group of people is different than making a statement about one individual victim.

I'm the person you quoted and I don't disagree with any of this. I'm for education and solutions. I'm for advocating and choosing politicians that support useful policies. I'm for grassroots effort, I'm for it all. But this is not what the other poster did (or are you the other poster). That other post was basically, oh well, you shouldn't hang around people with guns. That's no more helpful than what you said, “How could this happen? Poor Takeoff. What an unfortunate event.”

Well one of the solutions would be not to hang out with people who fool around with guns and if you are gonna hang out with people who carry guns, don't hang out with the ones who can't seem to stay out of disputes. This is not some poor inner city kid who didn't have choices. He had choices. He had resources. He choose to hang out with these losers and engage in this behavior and sometimes it bites you. Don't leave guns out or your kid might shoot themselves or another kid. I mean a lot of this isn't rocket science. Please tell me the magic useful policies because nothing anyone has done has worked so far. A child was shot in DC an hour ago. Much of the music he made glamorized the very behavior that makes young people think it is cool to be gangster and shoot at other people. He fed the very fire that burned him.
