How many times do I have to protest against the deficiencies in a system before someone listens?

Anonymous
OP if you explained to somebody here want you want from the school, and asked for assistance on writing or proofreading, I think you'd get a good response. No shame in asking for help!

Yeah I read that and I have no clue what the issue is other than sometimes Parentvue generated a message saying your kid didn't turn in an assignment when that isn't true? But there was no explanation as to under what circumstances or why. The link seemed much more interested in achieving a particular tone than communicating anything.

No one pays any attention to anything from the Parent Coalition (a couple of parents with kids who aged out of MCPS a long time ago. They like to point fingers, rather than work with the schools or administration to come up with actual solutions).

No one wants to advocate for every kid, just their own. That is why things can’t improve.

Or does it really matter that I'm unhappy with a system, as long as those who have imposed this on us are happy?

I don’t understand this part:

This is the system that will tell the parents that their child has failed to do an assignment or gotten a zero on the assignment, not because that's the truth but because they system has to be fed. But that is a dangerous scenario that puts children at risk.

Do you say it puts children at risk because their parents will abuse them over an erroneously reported grade?

That was from a current parent. But you ignore it.

Oh boy. "Learn to write clearly and more concisely" OR "learn to write more clearly and concisely" OR "learn to write clearly and in a more concise manner"

Your grammar sucks PP. And you were correcting OP.

BUSTED

Her grammar was off but everybody knew what she meant. I agree with PP, it was very difficult to understand what the issue was. PP is just giving helpful advice to OP.

I'm still not sure.

It should also be noted that McPs did not create parentvue or mymcps—those are software platforms that are sold to school districts across the country. If McPS tried to come up with a bespoke software solution, I bet it would be worse. Maybe someone should found a software company to come up with a better alternative? I’m actually surprised Google has not come up with something, since one of google’s goals seems to be to capture the American education system with their hardware and software.

MCPS did come up with MyMCPS. And it was worse. Money already wasted.

How is it dangerous?

How does it put students at risk?

What's the problem OP?

Is t mymcps just their name for canvas? Canvas is a really large online software platform used by many school systems. Mcps maybe did some customization of it but it’s not their creation. Part of the problem seems to be that neither synergy nor canvas provide everything they need, so they are using two different platforms that don’t communicate well. (Actually three when you add in Google.). I don’t know if there’s a solution for that—one ring to rule them all, so to speak.

LOL My mcps was not just another name for canvas. It’s the name for what mcps invented on their own. Millions of dollars on a disaster platform by a mcps director with an English degree and no background in tech.

And yet now MyMCPS is an entry point for Canvas.

This sounds unhinged.

I actually love it and I have a degree in tech. They did a wonderful job because it works great. I didn't know they invented this since it's used by so many other school systems too!
