Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)

How many times, how many ways do I have to say, “it's not working?" How many times do I have to point out the failures and the problems? How many times do I have to protest against the deficiencies in a system before someone listens? Or does it really matter that I'm unhappy with a system, as long as those who have imposed this on us are happy?

| Over and over again. My coworker had to hire an advocate at his own expense to finally get his kid the services they need. In his case it was a different school with a SN program ( don’t want to give to much info) because mcps said kid was fine mainstreamed at his local school. |
| If you want to gain more momentum on this, learn to write clearly and more concise. There was a lot of fluff in there and it was hard to follow. Your issue is that parentvue will show a 0 when it's not true? |
|
Ask your kid about the assignments and grades. Why do they need to be up anywhere?
It's your kids job to keep up with homework. I hardly ever ask or check the grades. It's true that they are not entered often or correctly, so why even bother to check. It's true that the kid is not learning anything, but neither are other kid. Most will be fine. |

I hate parentvue but this comes off as whiny and entitled. When I was a kid my parents didn’t know if I was turning in work until report card time! And MCPS is hardly the only entity struggling with awful software and no tech support. There is a massive shortage of programmers and It workers in this country. Almost everyone is having trouble hiring anyone competent to do this stuff.
I agree McPS should give more training and support to teachers. But they can’t just wave a magic wand and create technology solutions and employees that are competent in implementing them. |
Oh boy. "Learn to write clearly and more concisely" OR "learn to write more clearly and concisely" OR "learn to write clearly and in a more concise manner" Your grammar sucks PP. And you were correcting OP. BUSTED |
Her grammar was off but everybody knew what she meant. I agree with PP, it was very difficult to understand what the issue was. PP is just giving helpful advice to OP. |

MCPS is an excellent system for a large public school paid for by taxes. I say this as a parent of a child with an IEP, who had services and accommodations in school from elementary to high school, and who I've always had to advocate for. Their online platforms are inexplicably confusing and strange. Why don't they use something simpler? But all in all, I can't complain, because public schools elsewhere are for the most part so much worse. |
|
This is just an anonymous forum so not many are going to be carefully proofreading before posting, I’d imagine. The grammar complaint is a petty distraction.
Indeed those apps would be challenging for many to figure out, especially the more vulnerable populations. Really I can’t imagine my mom trying to figure out how to login and figure out what app does what. This was one of the biggest problems with zoom school/closing schools unnecessarily for over a year. They should streamline things with the user in mind |
| Just want to chime in and say that this article made me think I was missing something. I enjoy ParentVue and MCPS Classroom. Do I wish I could see things straight from my phone yes but once you understand the system (many tutorials available) you can click a link in an email and see your child's work and grade. I think that is awesome. Not sure what we are griping about? |
| OP are you trying to write poetry? I don't understand the long winded paragraphs. Try bullet points and put forth an alternative. |
User error |
| I went to the link, but truly don't understand what the OP wants. You don't like parentvue? You want a new system? You want teachers to not input zeros for grades? I have no clue. |
| That was a fluff piece, give specific examples, why is it bad, how could it be better, who did you express disdain to, was it in writing, when…. |
But but but...glass houses |
