Chantilly sux.

Any details on that? My ds is going to try out for Southwestern and Chantilly. Any intel on those two leagues would be appreciated. Or should we look to be an exception on another team?

We live in Herndon, does Herndon not have teams for all the boys' grades? I find that strange since its such a populated crowded area.

The board is terrible over at CYA. They have a large pool of kids residing in the zip codes they have to choose from, but can’t keep the talented ones because the coaches don’t get the support they need. You may end on a team with the coaches sons friends and on a daddyball team. The younger teams could be decent because they have such a large talent pool to choose from, but as they get older and see what the organization is about they bail.

Herndon’s Hailey Smith organization has a team, but they are small. Most of the Herndon kids play in the Reston or CYA organizations and the good ones play for Reston.

He’s SYA is in Centreville area. They are small too. I know some parents leave there and go to CYA’s house league because it’s more competitive.

8th grade boy and 5th grade girl.

Does this league have reclassing?

No, its based on grade. If your kid flunked a grade, he can play in his new grade but no one is really held back any more. You have to provide proof you live at your adress and your child's grade.

Yes, any grade based league can have a reclass. The only way to avoid is to play age based.

The child has to be in a certain geade, though. And public schools don't hold kids back.

Its grade based but they have max ages listed on their website. Eg, you cant play in 8th if you turned 15 by Sept 1.

Are all the Reston teams hard to make or just some of them?

I have heard that on the boys' side, the A teams are generally mostly kids who play AAU on the Nova Cavs, and very hard to make.

Well the coach also coaches the nova cavs so there may be some truth, but if your kid is good enough they will take him. The coach will probably also try to recruit him to the nova cavs.
