| One of the largest school districts in the US without an Inspector General…what else do you expect. Humans will be human and hook up friends and family… |
Everyone knows MCPS is a hook up culture! |
Did anyone say conflict of interest? |
half the people posting here. |
$25K would mean a lot for our school - how can you not think that's not a lot of money. |
What kind of other bids? In its defense, who else is doing what KID Museum is doing? |
| That $2 million contract to a BOE member's wife does not sound encouraging, from a voter's point of view. |
|
The memo that's posted says this contract is to expand the program to include elementary schools in addition to middle.

The MCBOE Ombudsman? You do realize they are appointed by the BOE, right? State BoE just looks the other way. Don't expect them to do anything. This is a Maryland IG thing. |
| Granted there is an IG at the county level - that is supposed to oversee MCPS. The problem is I think it’s not enforceable as MCPS is a separate entity. Maybe a lawyer could weigh in? The case with the teacher at Richard Montgomery a few years ago noted somehow MCPS is not a state entity / it is separate body. This is why it really needs its own IG. I don’t think the state has aegis over it. |
Thanks PR department. That's a brand new memo just posted this evening. Want to tell everyone why the entire memo has now been changed and why there is still no mention of the wife of the board member being the CEO of this company? |
You're obsessed. Get some sleep.
|
Lol, I usually think the accusations of the PR department trolling around here are reaching, but this one seems very likely… |
I don’t know anything about this except for what I read on here and next-door. But I will say there is no other place doing anything like this to request a bid from. It’s sole-source. As to The question of general oversight for MCPS and they’re spending, I do think there needs to be less rubber stamping and more critical oversight. |
And the other half pointed out that he recused himself from this matter. Sheesh, stop with the conspiracy fiction. |
