Did anyone else see this article? Is it true? Can the BOE just approve such a large contract without seeking other bids? Esp if it really is to a BOE spouse’s company?

Our ES has talked up the Kids Museum initiatives --- my kids seem to like them okay, but I don't know that they are fantastic. I'd be really curious is hearing what the ES and MS teachers think about it. Putting $2M towards supplies for science education across the whole county doesn't get you too much -- about $25K per school. What would that pay for?
I agree it's worth discussing alternatives, but -- OTOH -- they spent forever discussing crap, and nothing gets done. If this isa popular program with the teachers and principals, I'm okay with them just fast-tracking the renewal. |

Disgusting, and the fact that the spouse of a BoE member owns this company makes this super unethical. Someone needs to raise this with the Ombudsman or the State BoE. |

How is this an asset to our students? They charge for field trips and MCPS or families still have to pay for buses. We tried to do one virtually and asked for a fee waiver and they said no. They should be offering free programing to MCPS for that money. |

Little too much enthusiasm from who is this? Keep posting this? My kids had a wonderful time at Butlers Orchard—did MCPS Board give them millions? That maybe would be great! No family relation involved. |
