Is Suitland dangerous?

Shootland is what my colleagues called it.

They just built a huge townhouse community, isn’t that helping turn it around. Didn’t that work at Barry Farm?

I used to work in Suitland. One morning i came into the office and the parking lot had all those little cones like in CSI marking the locations of billet casings because there had been an arrest-gone-bad in the lot next door overnight. That was kind of the last straw for us and we moved offices. Mostly we brought lunch and stayed locked in the office all day and it was fine, but it wasn’t really a great area and if i lived there I’d leave to do all my shopping and errands…

Almost like crime negative affects areas. Weird! Catch and release or just don’t catch.

You cant run from crime in MD, esp in PG. Move to VA.

Just watch the local 11 o'clock news.

Just stop it. This is not true.

Yes but we do not know what is affordable for you.

Same $ as Suitland

I haven’t looked at the pricing very carefully but have you looked at Colmar Manor, Edmonston, Riverdale, that area?

Suitland is dangerous. Have you looked at Hyattsville/Riverdale area? Def much safe and still close to DC with lots of development in the Route 1 area. Also, looks at Mt. Rainer and Brentwood, all better options than Suitland. I lived in the Hyattsville area for 5 years.

We lived there when first married and it was fine. Moved because of schools.

I used to work there pre-pandemic and in one of the older buildings. I had several scary incidents. I saw someone brandish a gun in front of the Popeyes at lunch time. I drove off very quickly to get away from that. Someone shot at the building and it broke a window, hit a file cabinet, and fell to the floor. If someone was sitting there they would have been hurt. The police came by and said it was probably a pocket rocket and was a stray bullet. I felt so much better when they said we probably weren’t the target. I saw a robbery too. I transferred out of that job as soon as I could. I didn’t feel comfortable working there. It wasn’t worth it. I wouldn’t live there and deal with all the random crime.

Most of the PG county is dangerous. Some are really bad as like Oxon Hill and Suitland and others are slightly better.

Yes. We live in the 20720 area of Bowie. Upper Marlboro is nice as well and safe.
